    Hi Pat and Ann,
The same thing happened to me the day before yesterday. Was trying to respond to you but my sign up on this page kept on failing.
It was a scary situation, was trying to park at Seafood City in Cerritos, CA as I was pressing the brake while trying to park, the car accelerated went to the curb hit the Palm Tree and hit the car in front of it where my foot was on the break the whole time. The tree fell on top of a brand new car. My foot never left the brake as we all know whenever we are trying to park the car is just moving slowly and your foot is on the brake to guide it.
Thank GOD no one got hurt as the owner of the new car was there with her cousins. They saw me pulling in the parking lot as they were walking as I was pulling in to park.
The guy who’s the cousin of the owner of the brand new car knew the car malfunctioned because he saw the car was still moving even though my foot was on the break as well as when I applied the emergency break the car didn’t stop, so he was the one who turned off the car. He also heard the weird sound coming from the car and the monitor on the dash board was acting weird. It was the worst feeling as I was not in control of the car as the brake didn’t work.
Quite a few by standers came in, I was so shaken and immediately called my husband, meanwhile, the owner of the car was trying to make up stories. I didn’t have a problem when they call the police. My husband has been on the phone with the tow truck and soon after insurance getting instruction on what to do. At the same time I was trying to get his attention to call the dealership as I am determined to get the car tested.
The tow truck came in but told us he can’t tow the car, and we have to wait for another tow truck.

I was so shaken, me and my husband were discussing what to do. We called the dealership and told them what happen and trying to get an input of what to do. They gave us the corporate office number and I immediately called them. It appears that they don’t take it seriously as the person that I talked to just took the info, and told me he’s trying to get a case manager. But it only took a minute when he put me on hold and told me no one was available.

Not knowing what to do, my husband called the insurance again and was given instructions by the insurance to have it towed thru them. So I made sure to cancel the AAA tow request.

I called the Toyota again yesterday late morning to follow up and as usual they told us that they have lots of incidents they have to attend to. It’s obvious that they didn’t to want help us. He told me they have 24 hrs to respond and I should get a call before 5pm yesterday. But never happened.

Thank GOD it happened in the parking lot and not where there’s pedestrians nor the freeway and my daughter who’s driving on a permit was not with me. I am still shaken even at this point.

So this was a 2007 with how many miles on it? Just curious if any Gen 3 and Gen 4 have had any issues.

How long have you owned this car?

Looks like the car was floored for that kind of damage.

So your saying the car accelerated even though you had your foot on the brake you pressed the brake and it still accelerated?

Has your ever had the TSB done where they chop off the bottom of the gas pedal So it can’t get stuck on a floor mat? Have the dealer check the records for your car. You can do it yourself go to

    Toyota.com/owners

And join the owner forum you need to list the cars vin so have your insurance card handy. Join and look at the cars dealer service history.

You have car mats on the front floor right?

I read through this thread, skimming the irrelevant discussion in the middle, then picked it up at the last two pages looking for a final post by the OP.

It seems the OP, Pat and Ann, never came back with the outcome of their case with Toyota. Which is a shame. But I guess, that given they have been absent from PC for over 8 years, we will never hear what the conclusion was.

I hope we will do better with the latest poster. (y)

The car sees and records everything. That's probably why they haven't been back. Toyota downloaded the data and said nope nope nope.

Similar to the IT motto of PEBCAK, this is something like PEBCASW: Problem Exists Between Chair And Steering Wheel.

The Prius has undergone some of the most rigorous firmware inspections for a commercial vehicle in modern times and no fault was found.

I didn't have any grandkids when the OP 1st posted. Now, we have 4. THAT's a true zombie thread.
