Yesterday I replaced the leaky water pump on my wife's 2005 Prius. Since it has 115K miles I also decided to replace the engine coolant at the same time. The pump replacement went without difficulty, but I did find that I replaced less coolant than I removed, even though I did all that I could to "burp" the system several times, and as far as I could tell the cooling system was full. I did not drive the car at the time, just ran it up to temp and let it cool a couple of times while adding coolant and trying to remove air through the radiator bleed valve.

But today when I drove the car I had not gone more than a mile before the Check Engine light came on. I drove to a nearby auto parts store to use their OBD scanner, and on the way I got a brief flash of the red triangle and "Problem" on the center console readout. When I did a diagnostic I got code P1150, Coolant Clog in Coolant System.

It is pretty clear that I did not do a good job of refilling the system, but I really don't know where I went wrong or what to do differently. As you can imagine, my wife is NOT happy and wants her car fixed ASAP. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I did check YouTube but only found one relevant video, and even though I tried to follow the directions I clearly must have screwed up someplace. Thanks for giving me Patrick's name, I will try him to see what he has to say.

All is well. I spent a little more time today and was able to get almost another 2 quarts of coolant in the system, cleared the code and all looks good. Not sure why it was so stubborn yesterday but not going to worry about it now!
