thinking of saling

    I was thinking of getting a newer car but wondering what would be the best way to get rid of my 05 pruis. sale it out right or trade it in ?

    As these things go, generally speaking, YOU will virtually ALWAYS get more money selling it yourself than going for a trade in. I don't know if this "convential wisdom" applies to Prii, but that is the historical trend. A dealer MUST pay you less than the car's value because they MUST re-sell it. If you DO decide to go for a trade-in...go in and make your best deal WITHOUT saying you have a trade. Once you have a commitment from a dealer on their selling price...THEN bring in your trade.

    Yea, me too. I know its bad form to critisize speling on the web, but when I read aboutt duel exhawsts, or the lack of rare disk breaks on the Pius, well...

    I'm guessing it won't be an easy sale. Even with the tax credit reduced after Sept 1, someone buying a new Prius will make out better than buying your used one unless you drop the price below their out of pocket cost plus allowance for mileage AND 1 year less on the warrantees AND the fact that the 2005 doesn't have the better display and back-up camera.
    My wife's '06 with NAV cost us less than my '04 with Nav and I have Prius envy for the rear view camera and higher res display :)
