I have never had such trouble negotiating prices on a car. I want a 2018 (new) Prius Prime Advanced. MSRP is $35,000 and the dealers WILL NOT FREAKING BUDGE off that price. I've never paid sticker price for a car in my life but these guys are killing me? Anyone have any hints?

I did pay MSRP for my Gen2 back in '04 but I was an early adopter and still had to wait 4 months for it to arrive.
I paid $1200 under MSRP for my '18 Prime Advanced and here in the midwest thought that was a decent price.
I had to wait two months for that one but half of that was because the first one fell off the truck (literally).
I made a promise to myself that I would get exactly the car I wanted (no compromise on color, options etc.) and
    that's what I got. I love it.

Your problem is you're in NC, a Southeast Toyota dealer, nothing more to be said other than if you can get it somewhere else and drive it, you could deal.

I paid full MSRP and I'm in SC...

Could you drive to Virginia, near DC? I can direct you to a dealer there that shows a red Advanced at less than list. My preferred salesman there is a Gen 1 Prius owner. He might be able to better the price.

    Cast a wider net.
I'm thinking that you're going to find a hungrier dealer up the road....maybe in one of those little itty bitty blue states a little further north on 95. If you're a native NC resident and you're familiar with the term "half-back" then you know why.

Either way you stand to save thousands of dollars by cutting a deal on-line and taking a drive or buying an airline ticket.
Your local dealer knows all of this and is betting a sale that you will cave for hundreds---or less.
    Or?
They really don't give a rats, since they can make more money selling 4x4s to the local high-school grads.

    Good Luck!

You're in the South and it's run by the southeast toyota mafia basically. They're terrible, a deal made when Toyota was just entering the US. And they don't want to sell Primes. And they don't order Primes. So if you want one, you pay full MSRP. Consider yourself lucky it's not above MSRP.

Just fly somewhere not in the South and buy the car you want and drive it back. Last weekend we flew from CO to NY to buy the exact car we wanted. Then drove it back to CO. When I bought my Prius, I bought it in NJ. The world is small, the US is smaller. Air travel is cheap, and in the US gas is cheap. No excuse to just not hop on a plane and buy what you want.

I'm in Chapel Hill, and quickly realized the local dealers weren't interested in selling Primes. Last summer I rented a car for 60 bucks and drove to Tarbox Toyota in Rhode Island, where I picked up a Premium for about $2K off list, plus a $3200 rebate IIRC, and drove it home after stopping in on family in NY. Tarbox made it easy - registering it when I got home was a piece of cake.

17K miles later, the only time I put gas in is on trips, and I doubt I've burned more than a hundred gallons. Make the drive, save big bucks, and get a Prime!

    Yes. Get over it.
It's the law of supply and demand.
THEY hold all the power in a situation where the supply is severely restricted.

Try getting a discount on a Tesla.

Speaking of Teslas, how does one get one fixed if they don't live in one of the areas where they have a repair shop. There's not one in my whole state. (just wondering, I thought about getting a used S, but no way if I can't get it fixed!)

I thought they had mobile service technicians, but aside from the battery and motor, the rest of it isn't different than any other car. Software fixes are over the air, and don't require a visit to or from someone to fix. Getting body work done could be an issue, but that's because the Model S has a aluminum body. Places that can fix a Range Rover or F150 should be able to fix an S.

Why? He drove dangerously and crashed. What is there to dispute?
Evidence is on security cameras and at the site of the crash.
