Make sure the 2016 pack is the NiMH type and not the lithium ion type;).

Can you drop in a gen4 NiMH module into a Gen2 pack: yes

Will the module resemble the Gen2 cells: no

    Will there be issues: probably

If the gen4 pack is NiMH, it will be the same size and have the same voltage rating, so it is possible.

    Hope that helps (y).

It might be possible, it might not be possible.

For the 2016 pack, I don't k kW the battery chemistry it has. But if its the NIMH chemistry like in gen2, then it would work. But of its lithium ion chemistry, there might be issues, because the BMS of both are different.

Yes, it has the same size 28, 7.2v modules. They look a little different but work fine and is a very affordable option.

Obviously it has to be a Nimh battery.

I believe @TMR-JWAP has also transplanted gen 4 Nimh cells.

All batteries are marked, depicting their chemistries.

A Gen 4 HV battery pack is clearly marked on the outside if it is Li-ON or NiMH.

The NiMH ones I have used are G9280-47200

That is a NiMH label. You'll notice there are 2 yellow triangles right around the top center of the long skinny label. Directly under those triangles it should say NIMH. On the small white label, just left of the "X1" it should have the toyota part number. Most likely G9280-47200. The two photos below were just taken from a case in the shop.

This is an ebay auction for the Li-ON style battery. Notice the difference in labels and case.

How much is the person wanting?

Toyota dealers selling online, have the HV Battery going for $1800+. You'll have to do your due dillegance and make sure the dealer will sell to you.

Looking at the photo in post 11, that's definitely a private owner or salvage yard. I'd be a bit irate if a dealer had my new battery sitting on pavement like that. Probably a driveway.

Flood car batteries will typically have a layer of dried dirt/mud on EVERYTHING, including inside the case. It looks pretty clean in the photo, but that doesn't mean they didn't do a little housekeeping on it prior to taking photos. Have him take the cover off the left side of the battery to expose the electronics portion. Get a close up photo of that section. If it's clean, then it's most likely not a flood victim.

You could also save yourself a heck of a drive if they ship it to you. Probably be $75-150 for one battery depending on their relationship with their freight shipper.
