Sorry if this has been discussed but have had absolutely no luck finding anything on point.

Went up to Boston last night and on the way back the computer screen restarted....then went black....restarted again...it was late so I thought it would be fine in the morning. No such luck. This morning I started up the Prius and I couldn't even turn the AC off since the screen would just keep restarting. It's so unpredictable, it'll start off, turn on after x minutes, turn off, fade out (into white), then turn on, etc. etc....music sometimes stays on sometimes goes off. And no it's not screen problems since I cant "press'' the screen when it is off.

PLEASE HELP! (and no contributions as to why I was recording/driving and how it's dangerous, I know)

***side note, hehe just noticed the red Prius in front of me in the 3rd pic****

Time to head to the dealer. That looks like an internal problem with the MFD to me.

Ouch! Should be under warranty, but...

Do you have any after-market electronic equipment, gadgets, or
    gizmos installed?

I'd bet a loose connection, though a short on one of the circuits similar to the more frequent MFD issues that were seen in the '04 Prius is possible. I'm hopeful that it'll be as simple as plugging a cable back in nice and securely.

I had sirius installed (factory type)...although I unplugged it during my lunch break to make sure I wouldn't get any grief from the dealer. As I was doing that I pushed everything back in and nothing....WEIRD, hehe maybe its a lemon and I'll get the first 2010

The problem is these damn gas prices. I wanted a white one and all I could get was silver...Betcha the white touring package 3 didn't have this problem (and it still on the boat getting shipped here)

oh well, keep you guys updated as to what happens.

OK so I dropped it off at Lynch Toyota in Manchester, CT (amazing people in general, didn't buy my Prius there because they are small based on volume and they couldn't promise me anything)...

Anyways they were fortunately able to replicate the problem and are replacing the MFD (multifunction display) under warranty and I'm driving an '09 Corolla until Friday until they get the new MFD installed...Corolla looks bigger on the outside than in and is actually much smaller than the Prius.

Can't complain, hopefully the new MFD will solve the problem for good.

Did they say what the problem was? Mine just started doing this today... On/off/on/off with the radio. The display will come on every so often, then it powers off. No backup camera. If I stop and 'reboot' it works for a little while.

You'll need to replace the MFD. I just had this happen last week on my 2007. You'll need to remove yours from the dash to get the part number off the back. 10 minute job. Plenty of youtube videos on it. Mine was 86110-47230. Fortunately, I had a spare in the garage from when I had bought a bunch of parts from a guy who disassembled a 2007 wreck. There are places online that offer rebuild services and of course, salvage yards and ebay. You can also just try disconnecting and reconnecting the wire plugs just to be sure it isn't a loose connection, but that's very unlikely.

Use this website! It's $300 for them to repair it. Almost $1200 if you take it to a dealer My wife's 07 died in May. They fixed it. It died again on a cross country road trip last month in Oklahoma. We drove back to LA without it working. They warranty their work for 1 year so I didn't have to pay again. I asked for a refund on the shipping for the 2nd repair and they sent a check. They're not the best at keeping their customers in the loop on repairs but $300 beats $1200 any day.
