I had a 2010 Prius IV that I got in Aug '09. After I ordered it I was here 24/7 obsessively reading everything about it, watched a zillion youtube videos and knew every single button, display etc. and what they did before I even had the car.

For the past few weeks, I had a warning light that was coming on and took it in and was told it would cost almost $5k to repair with parts and labor. 3 days later, I have the 2018 Prime Plus and I feel LOST.

So I have been trying to do the same, watching youtube videos, searching for posts here and I am still lost because it seems like everyone has the two higher models and the larger screen and I see photos posted and don't know if my car has that display etc.

So what I am hoping to find is recommendations on what displays to have up while driving. On my Gen 3, I loved the display that showed a meter and when it was charging, vs when I was in the red with my lead foot and how much mpg you were getting at that moment. Is there something similar on the plus?

After I parked last night I found on the screen where there is a diagram of the car, but not sure what it does. I never understood that screen on the gen 3. Also what is the button next to the lane departure one. It doesn't seem to do anything.

ETA: like what is the display next to the MPH on this guys video? Do I have to be in ECO mode for it? Is it only the higher models?

So I would be grateful for any tips, links to youtube videos that you may have, Thanks.

Congratulation on purchase of a new Prime, but sorry for the loss of Gen3 so early. Although you can just drive this car without any of those information, if you must know, you should start by reading manual. The display next to the MPH on this guys video is Hybrid System Indicator. This is what most people display in MID, I think. Everything you see in MID (multi information display) should be identical for all three trims except a few missing functionality for safety features in the lower trims compared to Advanced.) You can change the MID by using the button on wheel as shown below. The button next to the lane departure one must be a vehicle-to-vehicle distance switch. You can use this button to increase or decrease distance between your car and car in front of you while you are using DRCC as shown below. Again, reading manual will help you. I know it's a thick book, but you can find most of the answers in there.

I suggest take time to read the manual. That's what I did since this is my first PHEV car. Also browse on this forum, a lot of helpful tips.
When I am driving I usually have the HV indicator display in the MID screen.

Congrats! There is much to learn that you can take advantage of, but very little of that's actually necessary. Just drive it... for now.

When time permits, I have an extensive collection of driving videos to share showing the built-in display along with an aftermarket display. Here's a recent one:

Watch how the detail available is presented with a simple readout. There's a lot automatically happening for you behind the scenes. It's a well thought out system.

    Thanks, everyone!

Yeah, I know the manual is the best option to learn, but I haven't had time to figure out how to even open the glove box. the dealer showed me the stack of them and my head wanted to explode lol. I am working crazy hours this week and I haven't had time to really sit in the car and play around and we are going away tomorrow for the weekend. The pages posted are very helpful!

Will check out those videos while waiting for clients. Thanks so much!

P.S. I just came across this video and now I see what I was missing. Thanks again, everyone!
