    Hello,

Okay my wife has a 2017 PLUGIN (which is the car the we use for weekends and long drives) and I do have an old second gen 2009, salvage tittle and with almost 200k miles. I work just 3 miles from home so is perfect for me, but I don't want to make any investment, that's why I've been dealing with this annoying noise for over 6 months, I rather deal with that that invest in a new brake actuator pump.

Does anyone know how to hack this and where to disconnect whatever to get rid of this noise? Please don't give me solutions on how to fix the problem (from root), I don't care I don't mind I drive slow so there is no danger whatsoever. I just want a quick dirty fix (if any), if not then I will continue driving like this. .

So you want someone to aid you in disconnecting a safety device so you can continue to drive a car with minimal brakes?

I've driving this way for over 6 months. I do minimal driving and I don't take highways. Please believe me I know what I'm doing, I'm a diligent and I'm not driving over 35 and gradually push the brake without any issue. I got the hang of it believe me.

Again I know the root cause but I will not invest any money in a salvage old car... I rather drive this way, no big deal but if there is a fix I do it that's all I'm asking. Thank you very much for your understanding.

No, this is a salvage car.

Calling the beep "annoying" is like calling somebody annoying who shoves you out of the path of a train.

If your "no danger whatsoever" driving maims or kills somebody, I wonder if their family will get a lawyer who checks PriusChat to see if you were ignoring a braking alarm for over 6 months.

He is talking about the 2009 with the salvage title
He threw in the other Prius for show.

Not to mention if someone did help him they might be liable also

Ok fine. I will continue driving it as is. Seems like im in a morality forum.
Thanks but no thanks for the moral lessons, I'm know exactly what I'm doing.

Will the car come to a stop if you slam on the brakes? As far as morality I don't think people want to tell others to go drive cars that have compromised brakes. I mean it's one thing if the ABS module is dead and you don't have ABS.

Anyway, more than likely not going to get rid of the beeping, might be able to clear codes to shut it up for a bit but if there's a problem the beeping will be back shortly. Getting rid of the beeping will probably mean cutting off a lot of stuff that you might not want to lose.

So...what's the root cause of the problem? What have you got going on with the car?

Yes of course it does stop but if I push it too hard/fast the tires will "burn" just a bit. But will stop regardless. This happened me twice just after the problem started, it's been a long time without a bad stop.

I was get to the "diagnosis check 1" panel but couldn't find how to reset the code.

Oh and I need to replace the actuator booster.

You say morality forum but you want us to help you with something that is dangerous. I’m going to guess you do not know how to work on your own cars. The actuator pump can be had for 250 used. That’s less than a set of cheap tires. If you wanted to bypass non safety items I think people would help, but your brakes? There is a difference between cheap and stupid. You need to figure out where you want to be.

When you say tires burn you mean they lock up a bit? Which would make sense if you don't have working ABS. Just doing a quick google search of the ABS actuator booster looks like they go for ~$200 on eBay, might be worth it assuming you can put the part in and fix both the problem and the beeping. I mean it would be worth it for an '09 Prius, yours being salvage not sure if you got other issues or what the overall condition is. Might visit a junk yard, you know there's plenty of wrecked Prii and might be able to get the parts a lot cheaper that way.

edit: Does this sort of sound like your issue? Brake Issue (ABS, VSC, !, BRAKE lights) - Sometimes beeps on start. | PriusChat

Bottom line is what I'm suggesting is you would be better off fixing it than to assume it only a booster based on a code, could be more going on or could go on. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to brakes and ABS systems at all...or a mechanic of any sort. I just know enough to have an fairly good understanding of cars and technical minded.

To much money, if you look at this car is worth maybe $1500. It's truly sad looking. Thank you all for trying, I will just continue driving with my music on for just less than three miles everyday. I know ebay sell them for that much, I'm not interested.

One day you'll appreciate the safety systems in a car. Brakes are pretty important in stopping a car properly.

This is a safety item that's not meant to just protect you as a driver, but also the people around you when your car is speeding towards them at 35mph. It may not matter to you but just imagine if you killed somebody because the car suddenly can no longer stop. I hope you can live with saving the money you want to save.

Well...best thing we can hope for is that he has insurance and that no one gets hurt or killed. $200 might be a lot of money to some people..well it is a lot of money to me, but something like brakes and that might cause the car not to stop or stop normally is important enough to spend $200, salvage title or not

You say that like it's a bad thing. :)

Something I like about this crowd is that you don't see a whole lot of putting convenience for self ahead of safety of others. Some, now and then, just not a whole lot.
