Oh, my battery's doing fine. I'm just starting to notice the pack not holding the charge like it used to..it IS an 11 year old car, after all. I'm a pro-active kind of a person, not a reactive one.

I've offered the same service to anyone here in the NE (within reason) but so far no takers! (for details see threads passim)

I have driven approx 3K since the two-cycle reconditioning process. Currently sitting at 174K.

Subjectively, my battery does retain it's SOC better than before, especially with the A/C on. Acceleration is mildly improved. The improvements do drop off a bit after 1-2K, so it is very much a continual process.

Fuel economy is improved by about 5%.

I can see why LG would call this snake oil- for the average person, the cost to do this service is approaching 1/3 of what a new battery costs and the benefits are arguably minimal. If you can find some other members to split the hardware with you, it is probably worth trying the service. But at full price, I can understand why you should be hesitant.

We bought one of the very first ones that Hybrid Automotive put out back in 2014 and have been happy with it on our Gen 2s. It made more sense for us to get one since we bought two nine-year-old Prii at once and new batteries were really expensive.

It sounds like your car is a good candidate for grid charging since you're seeing rapid fluctuations in state of charge and have no codes yet. However, with the price of new batteries having dropped considerably, it's harder to justify the charger now for just one car since it's unknown just how much longer the battery will live with grid charging. It should last longer, but how much is impossible to know. Sharing makes a lot more sense.

While I don't use a Hybrid Automotive system to recondition my packs battery reconditioning is a must during a rebuild process, the performance improvement is 2x or 3x in the normal usable range of 230 to 202v. EV range, A/C on time while engine is off and acceleration are all improved after reconditioning. I have lots of graphs/logs showing performance improvements of 2x to 3x on a typical battery. The process of reconditioning with the HA system is labor intensive especially if you are trying to recondition 2, 3, 4+ packs at a time.

Lucious bought their "reconditioned" batteries from Battery Boy, they never claimed to recondition them inhouse. Their issues stemmed from using modules damaged in shipping (P3009 code) as well as installing already failed modules spiking their redo rate to near 50%.
