P3000, P3030, cell 1 reports -12.7V, rest 18V. Where to get fixed in Eugene, OR?

    My ‘04 Prius is throwing a P3000 and P3030 error. The scanner reports that cell 1 is reporting -12.7V and 18V on everything else. Luscious Garage thinks the sensing wire is broken near cell 1, especially since it’s a rebuilt pack.

    Anyone in Eugene have experience with fixing this sort of issue? Trying to get fixed for a road trip. Kendall Toyota wants to replace the entire HV battery and hybrid computer.

    Open up the pack and physically inspect it. Could be the module there is shorted inside, or faulty sense wires.

    Were you not the guy charging some of your modules with a power supply stuff in a separate thread?

    One block reporting a (-) voltage is most likely a sensor wire failure or corrosion buildup in the plug/socket where the sensor harness plugs into the ecu. Although I have no idea of what your DIY abilities are, a replacement harness can be purchased from Toyota for <$70.

    There was another thread, not long ago, where a member found something very similar. One sensor lug had corroded away and the wire broke off. He merely stripped the wire back a bit, loosened the nut for that terminal, slipped the wire under the nut and then torqued it down. A temporary repair until he could make something more permanent.

    Nice, thanks everyone. I am at Autobahn Imports with a referral from Atomic Garage in Portland (via Luscious Garage in SF) and feel like I’ll get good care here. Someone else mentioned the ECU connector, I’ll ask them to check that too.

    Nope, but I am the original poster of that thread. I was hoping I could delete it but no dice. Hopefully it’s useful to someone and I’ll report back what I learned.

    For those looking for reconditioned batteries in Oregon, try Andre at Hybrid Battery Exchange in Portland. Had a failure in mine and was $700 + $50 for delivery to Salem. It's been 8 months and everything is holding steady.
