I got a GPS system for Christmas and was testing it out on my way home tonight when the suction cup became unstuck and the unit fell off my windshielf breaking off the radio button knob.

Can anyone help me find a new radio volume button knob? I can't stand how it looks and it's driving me crazy!

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Actually - I think you can get along without it, very well. I think that the steering wheel controls can do everything that knob could?

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Unfortunately, it wasn't the knob the the shaft the broke off. Probably the same in your case also. It's not repairable according to the dealer but they were willing to replace the radio under warranty for me. If the car is still under warranty it's won't hurt to ask.

I keep all of my knobs pushed in flush to prevent this very thing.

I'd point it out the next time I had the car serviced and see how much a replacement knob is. Couldn't be that much. Probably just unscrews.

I had the loop of my oil stick break off and they replaced it free under warranty.

I usually keep those buttons pushed in too but I've got into a habit of controlling the stereo with both the steering wheel controls and the knob. I'll have to give the dealer a call and see what I can work out.

The knob shaft is certainly intact. The knob's stem will go into the dial hole but it does click in place. This is especially true when the spring is placed in behind it; the knob and spring shoot right out.

I have a Mr. Fixit at my job who is good with these sort of things. I'll see if he can rig something up and then go to the dealership if he can't. The car is still under warranty so I'll see how the dealer will handle it.

I was hoping that there would be a place online to purchase parts for the stereo system but there's just nothing out there.

    Thanks for the input, guys.

 Tough luck... What a strange thing to break.

I find the volume knob useful, particularly when I need to reduce the volume quickly. The steering wheel button adjusts very slowly. If I was in your situation, I would most definitely want the knob replaced.

Also, when my wife wants to "give me INSTRUCTIONS" [As wives are likely to do... ], she uses that volume control knob.

That's exactly my whole gripe about it. I love using it to lower the volume in a quick instant.

I've been talking to some people and hopefully one of them will be able to help me out with this... and of all things it's just weird to break the volume knob.

That's another thing i wanted to ask. How to remove the audio knobs.
I wanted to eventually put in some others with more grip, perhaps with grooves on or less smooth plastic.

    TIA

    (haha my second post...)

You know, I tried like hell to pull out the other knob and had no luck. I honestly don't know if you can even do it.

The good news for me though is that Toyota replaced my radio for free under waranty - so I'm finally back in business (six months after the fact!).

seems this is a common problem as mine came off when carrying luggage in passenger seat. something else Toyota may want to take second look at.

anyone know if replacement of this knob is covered under th extended 100,000 mile warranty purchased through the PriusChat link

well my vol knob is busted too. I bought replacement knobs, but I am not sure what goes between the shaft and the dial, since I bought it this way. Is the volume knob spring loaded, or is it static and only rotates?

Re: HELP! Broken knob/dial on radio :(

My knob fell off when my rear view mirror fell off.
When the mirror fell off it also pushed in my clock into the dashboard.

I know I have the extended warranty, hopefully this will be covered when I take the car in tomorrow.

I am thinking of try super glue as someone suggested.

I had this issue too. I recently got a 3D printer and got into CAD.

So I designed and 3D-printed a replacement. The replacement button fits great and works better than I thought it would. Although you do lose the ability to push the button in (I never used this, and wasn't aware of it until after it broke off, so no harm here)

It's up on thingiverse now, just search for "Prius Generation 2 Volume Knob" (this forum doesn't allow me to post the link)

Did anyone ever figure out how to fix this themselves? Mine just fell off and I can’t get it to stay back on...
