If there was a contest, I'm pretty sure I'd win. After 32 days, I got Hedwig back from Toyota of Orlando with the SSC 40D complete. Complaints? I left my garage door opener in the loaner and they haven't returned calls about that. I provided a bill for how much it cost me in parking fees (sticker's on Hedwig) and payments for how long they had the car (since the service manager said they'd make a payment) and they provided me with Toyota's 800 number and shoved me out the door (message received: their fault, you deal with it). There's some strange piece of plastic obstructing my odometer. The CD player is fritzing. They gave me half off the 5000 mile service. (Half off! Wow! 32 days gets me a 50% discount....sweet.)

Lesson learned - we'll get to it when we're good and ready; we don't make phone calls; and when we're finished, you're finished - get out.

And yet I still love this dumb car.

    Wow, that really blows.
I'm sorry to hear that you have received such terrible service; followed the whole thing in the other thread.

I would have been on the phone to Toyota's 800 number via cell phone before leaving their lot. The beauty of speaker phone is that you can walk right up to someone you're pissed at and say, "why don't you explain it to them" and then you also get to hear the entire conversation.

It's good that you've been providing updates here because when you do call Toyota, you can use your thread to refresh your memory.

Good luck. All things considered, you deserve much better.

    [edit]
Now that I think about it, I'm going to go ahead and program Toyota's 800 number into my phone so I have it at the ready, just in case.

It isn't Hedwig's fault, she couldn't escape! :) Lesson learned #2. After you get everything sorted out and this lowly dealer pays his debt to you, hasta la bye bye! Hopefully there are better dealers near you.

That's why I still love her. I was complaining and said to someone that I missed how she drove, and how she smelled - they looked at me like I'd completely lost my mind. (But I know everyone here totally gets me.)

But here's the thing - I almost (almost!!) trust them now because I know that any mistake they could possibly make has probably already been made on my car - they had it so long it may have been taken completely apart and put back together just for fun!!

The good news: as far as I can tell, at least based on anecdotal evidence, is that this is not typical of all Toyota dealerships. I've seen plenty of people on various fora saying "Oh, yeah, I went in for the SSC-40D. No sweat. Hour in, hour out, all done!"

The bad news: this particular dealership is utterly incompetent. Incompetent automobile service, incompetent customer service. For whatever reason, it's clear that they don't really want your business, or else believe, for whatever reason, they'll get it anyway.

The answer, of course, is obvious: never, ever talk to them again :)

Don't put too much hope in the 800 number. Consider it lip service. If you have a problem with a dealer or what they've told you, you call the 800 number. They then call the dealer who says exactly what he told you, whether its right or wrong, and the 800 number person who doesn't know anything about the car calls you and says that the dealer tells them they're correct, so they must be. Total waste of time and incredibly inferior to any other manufacturers customer service line that I've dealt with.

I am happy to see that it is OK. I hope all the details get worked out. I do have to say that that dealership appears on the surface to be loosers. BTW Kourtney came through for me. I have a silver #9 waiting for me in Helena. Due to work stuff I can't get out of here till the 13th. I don't know what is worse being on the wait list and not knowing when your car (ship) will come in or having it there and not being able to go get it. Small price to pay for not waiting for another seven months.
