The wife & I went to "Daid Maus" the toyota dealer and test drove the HyC, man what a car... It had plenty of room in the trunk and lots of room inside for the passengers. The salesman said the difference in gas mileage was due to a bigger 4cyl engine. I was amazed the ev take off was the same as the prius. Ive got another year to decide.. I did notice there were no Prius's anywhere on the lot, the sales man said they can't keep them on the lot longer that 2hrs after they are unloaded from the truck.

He did say The Honda dealer has plenty of wanna be hybrid civics on their lot if we didnt want to wait for a Toyota (he said customers complain that there are no Prius's on the lot, so instead of waiting they go to the honda dealer make their purchase and drive through the toyota lot and wave in their new Civics he said he just shakes his head as they are not the same vehicle).

Any ways we have a year to decide between the prius or the camry...

We did drive through of the Honda dealer and sure enough there were 4 hybrid civics waiting for buyers..

Ah, get one. And the real difference in the mileage? Due to the Camry being a Camry. In other words, they didn't do as much as the Prius, when it comes to shaving pounds off the car. IMHO, of course.

I tested it on Saturday. My review is in the Other Cars section (under TCH subforum). I agree, it's a fantastic car for what it's worth.

My wife just bought a Camry Hybrid a month ago and I've driven it a few times. It drives like her old 2004 Camry. Not much different. She's getting 37 MPG compared to my 46 on the same roads. Plus, her Camry Hybrid is more comfy with more bells and whistles. She loves it. Me? I prefer my more utilitarian Prius with the hatchback. No frills really.

We are opting for leather this time round as the cloth is hard to keep clean....

I asked the dealer about that they said the Toyota installed leather package still has the cloth arm rest & door arm rests. The dealer said they have a company that will install all leather ie arm rests & seats for $1300 extra.. I know this is where they make thier money.. I joked to the wife we'd have to put some wide white tires on it and have a getto pimped camry.. she told me I couldnt do anything of the sort... ;)

Oh well, its still a comfy ride compaired to the prius...
