I just got done completely cleaning my 2014 v after getting spray paint over spray all over it (don't ask, stupid mistake on my part). I just wanted to pass on my experience as it left me with a new car looking shine.
After some research on how to remove the white over spray from my dark blue car, Using 'detailing clay' was the professional detailer's suggestion. I tried that but it dirtied up the clay so fast and required lots of elbow grease to do. After some trial and error I settled on cleaning the worst of it off with acetone and a microfiber cloth. That took the white paint off without touching the blue car finish. Next I followed up with the 'Mothers California Gold 16 Ounce Clay Bar System'
( mothers.jpg ) that I got at my local OReilly auto parts. I just followed the instructions, keeping the clay lubricated with the 'detailing spray' included in the kit. That removed any trace of white paint dots and any other contaminants on the paint. You could feel the car finish getting smoother as you used the clay. The finish came out SO smooth I couldn't believe it. It took my about an hour with the acetone, about 2 hours for the detailing clay step and another 3 hours to wax the car to replace all the wax the previous steps have stripped off.
Now my 'v' shines like new. I'm planning on giving the car the clay bar detailing treatment every 2-3 years just to keep it looking so nice.

I give my ride a claying twice a year, & NEVER go to car washes. I enjoy doing it myself. It's why the car is a year old now, NO clear coat swirling!!
However, don't stop there, grab a bottle of sealer, I like Chemical Guys.Com, check out their videos on YouTube...

It will give the car a really nice shine and a coat of protection!
Over spray can be a pain, getting it off quickly is a must.
Nice it worked out for you!
