Hi everyone. A client of mine wants to travel abroad, and decides to put his Prius up for sale.

    He's asking for $833.

    Condition of the car:
    1. Low mileage, 92,520miles
    2. Small cracked windscreen at the passenger's side
    3. Rear driver side dent(the dent was poorly done)
    4. MFD isn't responding to touch.
You can only control the functions (like AC system, and radio from the steering wheel).
    5. Inverter pump had being replaced with a new one
    6. HV battery had being replaced 2yrs ago with a used one ordered from the USA.
    7. No tinted stuff to limit battery deterioration, and parked outside without a shade
    8. ABS pump just failed. Making terrible noise.
    9. Has cracked dashboard on some sections of it.
An upholstery person can fix that I guess.
    10. AC system is working perfectly.
    11. Some tires are flat though.
    12. Fob key isn't working; mechanic key lost; a locksmith made a separate mechanical key for the car.
    13. Passenger side mirror has being mended(I meant the plastic side holding the mirror to the body of the car)

    My plan
I intend to use this car for Uber on weekends, if I eventually buy it.

I fix hybrid vehicles, and have the needed tools, and time to fix the pack, just in case the current battery fails.

What are your thoughts about the Prius? IMG_20181019_225112_108.JPG IMG-20181018-WA0016.jpg

Seems like a good deal. Hell the scrap value is probably $500. And you could certainly part it out for more than the asking price.
I did the brake accumulator pump earlier this year. If you have any questions about it... Took me 5 hours to do the swap, and then bleed the brakes. You will need techstream to do that or take it to a Toyota dealer after the repair.

Is that a typo? Do you really mean $833 US dollar or a different form of currency, certainly not Nigerian nairas? That price is usually only that low for a wrecked car you're scrapping for parts... Please clarify...

I have all the tools I'd need for the job.
Did you get new abs pump, or from a low mileage Prius from a junkyard?

Its not a typo. The Prius drives. Owner just wants to disposed off all his property, including electronics in his house, and move to Canada.
In Nigerian currency, its #300,000 naira. Initially, he put it at #500,000(or $1388).
Had to bargain to that price

Yes, got it from a salvage yard. Had to call around a bit. Got one from an 09. It was a running Driving car with no codes. Paid $260 I think.
Thing I learned... Toyota will tell you that you MUST get a specific part number for your car.. there were 4 different ones used on all the various years.. the replacement part for Toyota is the same part number for all cars... Making me suspect that it actually ndoesnt matter. So I risked it.
The one I bought is NOT the one Toyota said I needed... And it works just fine.

You have a link to the salvaged yard, or the address?

This was the place I called.. it's in Detroit.
I used car-part.com to find a list of places then started making phone calls. Make sure you call them and explain what you need.. make sure they understand.. and pack and ship it well.

the repairs exceed the value of the car, its not a deal at all..
    ABS actuator $3200
    MFD touch screen $200 used
    body work $1500
and what ever else is wrong with it..
so its a parts car worth the asking price ...
nothing to get excited about and not worth repairing.
its just a 13 year old toyota at the end of its life.
(yes, I saw the low miles and as always it proves low miles means nothing when all the expensive parts are failing)

just wondering if nigeria is special in that uber allows 10+ year old cars for ubering. Or perhaps your planning to use it only for uber eats / deliveries, not passengers.

The CORE value of the battery is $700ish all by itself and the rims/tires are another $100. Car paid for.

Used abs pump not new #200$ maybe
    MFD screen $200
    Body work $280
    That gives $680.
Might buy it and use for parts for customers, or drive it for a while, and disposed of it.

The ABS part is $1800 new from Toyota I called and asked. I bought one used for $250. Took me 5 hours to swap it.. then bleed the brakes.
Touch screen is whatever you can find a used one e for and a quick install. The dash is easy to take apart.

My MFD does not work either, and my friends does not work either.
Actually if I press a million times I can get some screens to change, most functions have alternate ways to control, such as steering wheel buttons for A/C etc so there is nothing that we have to have that we cannot get.

Then it's a bad investment for this purpose. By the time you have it fixed, you only have only less than 2 months to use it for uber.

call back and ask about the warranty when you install it yourself... the price was installed at my dealer (covered under extended warranty in my case) if you put a used one in odds are it will fail, thats why toyota was replacing them for free because a large number were failing... Id never install used brake parts, my life is worth more than a few bucks....
MDF,yes and 90% of the junk yards sell these screens on e bay and if its got the gps they are around 250, why would they sell you one for less ?
