I have always read the first sentence above as a warning, "working out our own salvation" as trying to go it alone without the Holy Spirit leading us.

Indeed Jesus way is one of non-violence but if it becomes necessay it will be used or at least permitted IMO.

Mat 10:34 Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

    Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going forth to war with the dragon; and the dragon warred and his angels;

Prayer is good, mankind is not, thank God for mercy and grace. :)

    God Bless

Hey Subversive, thanks for at least offering alternatives.
While I believe each one fails for a myriad of reasons, the underlying theme of your alternative ideas seems to be that a disparity in wealth creates terrorism, or at least civil unrest and discontentment.

In a general sense this may be true (in actuality though it is really the abuses that the poor believe they suffer at the hands of the rich that cause the discontentment, that or communist rabble-rousing). There will always be poor, rich and in-between. Communism, attempted to make everyone poor, but that doesn't work. Socialism is attempting to make everyone "think" they're rich, but as France and Germany are finding out, their economies are collapsing under the weight of the charade.

People without power attempt to gain it by illustrating the differences between what the poor have and what the rich have so as to exploit the "power" of the people, instead of working for solutions to the actual problems that the poor have. Granted these are broad statements but detailed analysis of the rich/poor causality link to violence would take volumes.

The key to solving them discontentment is not eliminating the divide between the have and have nots, but giving the have nots the illusion (or even actual) belief that they live in a system that they have the possibility of affecting without resorting to violence. The U.S. Democracy is the prime example.

As far as "let that be your last battlefield" the parties are wrong, its not which one is Arab or Israeli, its which one is western culture and which one is Arab/Muslim (not limited to just Arabs as persians and Muslims in general are included).

Our culture can co-exist with theirs, theirs however cannot do the same, PERIOD!

Wildkow, I understand what scripture you are speaking of.

But I look at it as "the sword which cuts asunder to the bone and the marrow" type of thing.

Meaning that the sword the Lord uses is one that discerns the hearts & the thoughts of man.
In this way, it divides those that would serve the Lord from those that won't serve Him.

But you are right in another way because most people will not just lay down and die. They will put up a fight.

That's why the Lord didn't defend Himself. He willingly gave up His life.

I appreciate you brother! Hang in there for the Lord will return soon even when no one, not even Himself knows, but only the Father.

I really hate to see all the fighting happening.

But like I said before, for those that don't believe in a holy God, all you have to do is look at the Jew.

It is because of God's covenant with Abraham that the Jew will never be totally annhilated because God is not a man that He would lie by breaking His covenant.

If God said it, then that settles it.

You know, when you fight against the Jew, you are fighting against God Almighty Himself.

That's pretty dangerous territory if you ask me.
