08 Prius. Finally getting the issues resolved, but - there's always a but.

The splash shields are messed up. Front missing entirely next two back are cut off and the fender liners are dubious, although I have yet to compare them with a replacement set.

How important are they? The car spent some time in Arizona and I figured heat might be an issue. It is in Portland, Oregon now. We have heat over the summer but nothing like my few visits to Arizona.

Get the car sorted, and then try finding some at a junk yard before the rainy season hits.

Check dealer/ebay/amazon/online pricing first, then you know what used ones are worth. Don't forget to factor in the needed fasteners, which are much cheaper on ebay/amazon.

The shields may also keep rocks, dirt or other debris out of the engine bay in addition to water splashes onto any electronics or other systems.
They may also aid in aerodynamics.
They may also aid in sound/ noise deadening.

I like the junk yard part replacement option in this case.

    Are they critical?
With a high voltage Prius and in a rain zone perhaps.
    I don't know.

The one under the front nose of the car protects the a c condenser. The condenser Is very expensive to replace.

The front of a g2 is very low and without that shield the condenser will take a beating from fod.

Update, I replaced the two fender liners, and both right and left side splash shields. I reinstalled the upper engine cover as well. Hopefully this work some benefit re mpg. However, now it's winter the engine runs to warm the car up so I might not realize any difference until next year. Oh well.

Now, looking at the Toyota parts detail there is a third shield (with the two liners for five in total). It is shown connecting to the joined left/right combo. I can find the clips and holes to mount it on its 'back' edge. However, it doesn't align with any other holes.

Does some forum user have pictures of Wth it is supposed to look like? The front of the left/right is connected to the bumper cover. There is no room (IMO) for the third shield. I am looking for a Prius in a wrecking yard to see if any are still complete enough to shed some light on this.
