I have a 2010 Prius with about 160000km on it. I noticed that, when I start accelerating from traffic light for example, the car is bumby, this settles down when I get a little bit of speed like 5 - 10km/h.

Any advice what could be causing this?

    Please define "bumby".

If that means bumpy or jerky, you might need some transmission service.

Could be a wheel bearing or CV joint too.

Could be the gas engine running a bit rough when it first starts up.

An inspection by a qualified shop should be able to tell the cause.

It is normal to detect a very slight bump when the gas engine cuts on after leaving a stop.......with some models and some people.
Some people don't notice it at all.

How about using the Power setting, less lag for engine to start.

Interesting thing about this, I also noticed that the car was running low on coolant. After adding coolant to it, and let it run for a while with the coolant cap open, I have not felt the bumpiness anymore. The define the "bumby" a little better, it was like driving on ribbles on road.
