Here's my first post. I have a 2006 Prius with the JBL 6 disc changer. The sound is great but the MFD display for both the track list on audio cd's and the file list for mp3's is sometimes available and sometimes it's grayed out. I have identified a pattern in the availability. I find this really frustrating and I was wondering if this is a "bug or a feature"? Any guidance? How does yours work?

Thanks! -Tom (who is also having major mileage problems)

What's the pattern? Is it grayed when you're moving and available when you stopped? If so, it's a safety feature. In order to get around that, there's a purple speed sensor wire that you cut and install a switch. By flipping the switch to "off," you trick the car into thinking it's stopped. You have to use a switch, as this sensor also gives you the turning wheels on the Energy screen and the 5-minute bars on the Consumption screen.

I obviously can't tell from here what problem you are having, but I do now that those things are are disabled when traveling at or over 5 MPH. I noticed that this happens with my VAIS iPod adapter. There are posts on which wire to cut to allow those selections while driving.

Right, you can go see where the Speed Wire Interrupt is. You can get at the wire from either the top speaker grill or the A/C vent cover to the right of the MFD. Some have installed a magnetic switch which is very inconspicuous.

That wire will also allow you to enter phone numbers if you have BT, as well as be able to read any messages that an FM station is sending.

Yes, the display of that audio data is disabled when moving over 5 mph. (Why 5? Shouldn't it be 0 = displayable and disabled at any speed?). So, that's answered. I got my Prius so recently that I'm hesitant to go clipping wires just yet, but I'm glad to have that option. Thanks very much for the info! -Tom
