    got code from scanner ( cheap one ) says negative battery contactor stuck closed, just bought car like this.

    Yep.
    That code means negative contactor closed.

    Did you get a good deal?

    Get yourself
    - cheap android phone/tablet
    - elm 327 Bluetooth Obdii adaptor
    - torque pro app (paid version)

    Then you can read and clear codes.
    See hybrid data live.

    It will tell you a bit more and you can then provide some data so we can help you out.

    Give some more background about the car from what you know.

    Miles. Car's Age. Has it been sitting, etc.

    Did you ever get vxdiag or Techstream?

    yas I got the tech stream but thought it would link up but no password thought it was a pirated link, not! I am still operating with a flip phone. bought car @ a auction total with fees and all was $608.00 2005 came in there didn't run showed code with triangle of death with 1 bar showing ran first code p080 witch is hybrid battery, checked voltage @ battery 210volts 12v dead charged that up & 1 more thing has a newer DORMAN battery in it too. car has 177k smells like a ashtray now since charged 13+ volts getting the other code now, just for your info I had this same issue with another 2005 prius replaced the relays ( did them both) but I thought it was another code,( not this p0aa8) my question is relay is " open" no connectivity between the post ( I do use rubber & leather gloves too) why does this happen? what would cause this? ( happen in my other 2005 too)

    What is the date on the Dorman pack?
    Perhaps it is still under warranty.

    there are 2 dates : 4-17 & warranty no good if installed aft. 10-17 there are other spots on there punch out dates which was never done & a Log in a spot where someone could write in date which was blank. so I would say no. I bought 2 relays last year only used 1 I am going to find it & swap out.

    just installed a used relay it was open ,checked with my ohm meter still showing same code, what determines that it is stuck ( which it is not) where is it picked up at to check that circuit? did I ask that right?
