i just installed the aukee h4 9003 hi/low beam led bulbs in my 2008 prius
they work great and are very bright, im very happy with them

they had great reviews on bulbfacts
and were 2x as bright as halogens and not 3x super bright as to potentially blind oncoming traffic
they were cheap, $40 shipped canadian for the pair
they increased peripheral lighting vs halogen, check pics
    great beam pattern
no one flashing their lights at me so that is a good sign
    i purchased on amazon
i am posting because there was no recent information about led headlights for this prius
    no can bus errors

    CONS:
Increased static on FM 107.9 (Toronto), cant listen to that anymore but the other radio stations are fine

there is a slight 30hz flicker if lights are set to auto in the daytime, due to the car sending less power than normal to the low beams. no flicker at night (in auto) or if lights are set to low beam manual

hope this post will help others, and im giving back to the prius community for the wealth of information i have learned here.

note i moved the car between the halogen wall and led wall shots, so they are slightly off but close alignment

im ordering a set of aukee for my sister's 2010 prius, her car would be h11 low beams

Looks like they're plug and play, though I would read the reviews first.
Any updates on the product quality for either of the installed vehicles?

How is the light quality, flickering, or radio signal holding up since the initial install?

At that price point there are many you can choose from, read the purchase reviews and understand that some reviews may not relate to the H4 bulb in question and could be for another bulb type, as many sellers also offer other bulbs.

According to the OP, they purchased on Amazon and the product was an

    it's 2022 now,
Can anybody recommend reliable 9003 bulbs, I like to put LED, I have normal 3 pin connection, all those new have a big heatsink which I think might not fit under the rubber boot and/or will require some adapter.

All reviews all controversial, most Amazon show 5star rating and all bad reviews on the top, how it's possible.?

Don't see any mentioned by original poster in 2008, how about those ?
    Looks bit scary.

    Thanks

Yes, let's update this thread as it seems to be the primary one about LED headlights on PriusChat... There's not any mention I can find on PriusChat of folks trying Fahren H4/9003/HB2 LED Headlight Bulbs, but after an hour of research these seem to be the #1 bulbs in reviews, as they have higher quality LEDs and also allow you to adjust/focus the beam pattern. But not sure how well the cooling system will work behind the rubber covers, so maybe a bulb that runs super hot would be a problem?

Here's the link to the Fahrens: Fahren H4/9003/HB2 LED Headlight Bulbs 12000 Lumens 6500K Cool White Super Br... | eBay

I also dumbly bought these LED bulbs which were so stupidly dim I couldn't use them, but I guess they're designed for systems with 4 bulbs rather than 2, so my bad: H4 9003 HB2 LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit High Low Beam Replace Halogen USA | eBay

Would be sooo nice if there were easy HID to LED conversion kits.

I was hoping I could find a way to do just that as I just took apart some HID housings last night... What a mess! So many proprietary parts.

And while it's mostly possible, the reflective plastic where the bulb mounts would have to be converted to the 9003 h2/h4 standard that halogen & LED lights bulb mount with and we'd need someone to 3D print an adapter.

Other question I have is what kind of venting could be added to rubber cap on back of headlights so the cooling fins on LED lights work correctly? I really don't want to create vents that fog up the headlights?

I wrote the seller of these kits and asked for local references for people who’ve installed them or install them for others. They said they did not have any installers that they knew of. I suggested they send a few out for free to hybrid shops to spawn interest and develop a market. They declined. As much as I hate my HIDs I don’t want to make things worse.

Thus far, if you have HIDs on your Gen2 you gotta switch over to the headlight lens/case that holds halogen bulbs. But that might not be true for Gen3 Prius... And they do have products that show up when you type in "Prius HID to LED conversion kit" but not seeing that as anything more than Google giving options that aren't what that search phrase means.

Not sure it’s necessary to change everything but haven’t seen anyone I personally know do it, hence my prior statement that it’s something I’d like to see before I try doing it.

Here's the problem that you need to see...

Here's photo of HID bulb mount with HID bulb and photo of HID bulb mount with 9003 Halogen bulb that won't mount because metals clips can't latch and there's a big gap between mount and plate on bulb that's suppose to fit snug but can't:

    PXL_20220309_201145709.jpg PXL_20220309_201124533.jpg

Perhaps the 9003 bulbs mounting plate could be machined to fit? And if I had a shop with a decent milling machine maybe it could work? But not something I'm confident doing with a cheap vice and hand tools.

Yeah thanks for the photos, if you want to go halogen I believe you, but I want to go LED to be done with it once and for all; the aftermarket kits say it is plug and play replacement for HID. Problem is I don’t personally know anyone that has done it. Like many things Prius, for things that I likely will never do again, and given that I have a lot of other things to do, I’d rather not spend time learning it but rather just pay a shop to do it. Problem is, I cannot find one, which makes me think they don’t work.

I did some more research yesterday and found adapters that allow you to convert standard halogen to HID, but no adapters to go from HID to Halogen... So thus far, it's still easier to buy new cases/lenses to to convert from HID to Halogen/9003 because there's a great selection of prices for LED that fit Halogen/9003 but not for HID.

Yes, thanks, but I’d rather go to LED not Halogen. Once and done.
Will probably try it eventually if I can see someone personally who’s done it and not just a vendor wanting to sell me a LED kit.
