    Hi
I am new to this forum and i have few Q about my Prius hybrid battery.
My problem is that my Prius does not remind you about coming service and when i changed my job i started driving further distance and I overdid my interval for 3000 km (2000 miles) and because of that my battery is out of warranty said Toyota. New battery costs around 1800€.
I know that i have problem with 9th and 10th cell because there is more than 0,3 V difference between them and that is why my Prius is showing me yellow light warning that my hybrid system should be checked.

My Prius actually works almost normal it is just like he does not know when is his battery full and when is it empty.

My question is - is here anyone that has changed his cells in hybrid battery and what should i be careful for? Will change of rebuild cells help solve my problem or not? If there is anyone that has already done this i would be very thankful for any information.

I'm not understanding completely: is Toyota saying your hybrid battery be still under warranty, if you had made it to that service in time?

What was the service, an oil change and tire rotation for example? If that's the case, seems like they're just looking for an excuse to avoid honoring warranty.

For that matter: as far as I know, you're not obligated to do any routine maintenance at a Toyota dealership; any competent garage can do it, or you can Do-It-Yourself. If the latter, it helps to keep a detailed log and all receipts.

    Or am I mis-reading?:

    welcome to prius chat!(y)

there are lots of threads here on battery rebuilding. see one from @ryousideways . it is inexpensive, but very time consuming. proper rebuilding will buy you some time, but a new battery will get you another 8-10 years

Yes (warranty for hybrid system with battery is 10 years) but if you are late for interval like i was warranty is out :)
And my car was always serviced at their service!
And the most ridicilus thing - 3rd generation 09year doesent have service maintanance warning like other cars have. That is why i missed it because if i had i dont know Citroen (or any other car) i would have a dashboard warning that my service interval is comeing..

That's what they're saying at the dealership, but I wonder if Toyota corporate in your country will also say that. It maybe be illegal: in North America I believe the burden of proof is on the auto manufacturer, and good luck to the lawyers, trying to argue that a hybrid battery failure was due to a single instance of oil change being a little late.

Thx... Yesterday all the lights on dashboard were gone gnd car is now acting perfectly normal!? Before he he didint know when to go to EV mode or even didnt want to go if i wanted it to go. Batery capacity movement on dashboard is nnormal again. Before it would jump up and down now it charges normaly and emptys normaly. Im tthinking that my car doesent have problem with battery... Could it be something connected with 12V battery? I think it hasnt been changed because i bought car 3 years old and i didnt change it since so its like almost 10 years old 12V battery... This is really abnormal behaviur of a car :)

Same here at Finland, Battery warranty is only 1 year/15k kms at the time, until 8y/350k km come and you get another 1y/15k km warranty when ”hybrid health check” is done by Dealer. So, if you drive for example 16k km before next ”hybrid health check” the warranty is out until you get a health check. Your problem then if there is some hv battery problems, you are out of warranty.
Nice way to get peoples money.

    Toyotas Hybrid warranty EU style.

The most ridiculous is that a car of such technology hasnt got a service interval warning!!

    Hi!
This is a online shop in US. They ship world wide:
    Electron Automotive – Hybrid Solutions

Doing it yourself is easy but time consuming. There is plenty of videos online.

I know what's the situation here. The car, when new comes with guarantee for the battery for couple of years. After that you can "extend" the guarantee by going to the certified dealer. They just check if the battery is fine and they extend the guarantee, if they see it's dying they tell you that you need replacement and they don't extend guarantee anymore at that point.
Basically they trick you into doing maintenance only at their shop till the battery shows signs of degradation and then they charge you for battery replacement. The only risk they take is when the battery actually dies during that one year between checks but I'm sure they will tell you to change the battery before any issues might show.

I don't know about Slovienia spec cars, but my '08 Prius had a Service Vehicle indicator every 5K miles. Yours does not?

No mine is 3gen 09 prius and it hasnt got service interval warning but the later ones of 3rd gen have it. Actually i have "maintenance" in navigation system where i could put in next service in 15000km and than it begins to countdown km (i can put in anything frim tyres to oil, wipers...).. Question is is that something that dealer should do in my case?

Maybe some confusion: 3rd gen, 2010 model year in North America, were shipping halfway through 2009.
