Combination Meter for sure. Fuse as well?

    Hi all,

My 2006 Prius with 215k miles runs well, but it has the dashboard lights issue. For 6+ months, the dashboard signs (odometer, all warning signs etc.) have come on only about half the times the Prius is turned on. For the last month though, dashboard signs come on even more rarely.. about 1 in 20 times.

Having read other posts on the forums here, it seems the Combination Meter is surely an issue. Is it possible that fuses (or something else) may also need replacing? If so, which fuses?

    Thanks very much in advance!

Nope its the combo meter. It goes from cutting in and out to not being able to shut the car off. There's members on here that sell the board for $100. There's a good youtube on how to replace it. Just replaced mine 2 weeks ago using that video. Search Prius Combo meter on youtube.

To see hundreds of threads about it use the search forum button up top and search

    Combo meter.

Matt at Texas Hybrids sells them. He just bought my dead meter off ebay.

Thanks! My rear camera isn't working as well.. Is it due to the combination meter also?

There’s 2 screens on the dashboard one is the combo meter that has the speedometer
The other is called the mfd multi function display that has the battery meter on it.

Which screen is out? Because the rear camera is hooked to the mfd.

If the combination meter is not working, then other ECUs may not know the transaxle gear selected. Hence the MFD may not know that R gear position is selected to turn on video from the rear camera.

Good one no reverse command no camera.

The combo goes through a few stages of end of life the worst at the end being the car won't shut off
easily either. Mine refused to shut down no matter what trick I pulled. I ended up unclicking the main 12 VB+ connector at the battery post fuse assy.

The MFD is working in general, minus the camera. I watched YouTube videos to replace the combo meter, and will happily admit it's way too much for me LOL. Taking it to the dealer is out of question, given the cost/benefit. Perhaps look for someone on Cragilist? It seems to be at least 2-3 hours of work, would you guys agree? Perhaps more?

It is a little scary on the video.

More like 4 hours first time for me at least. I could do it now in 2 maybe less after doing it. Its not bad the video is very concise.
But doesn't really matter how long it takes. Your saving alot of money doing it yourself.
