OK, from time to time I accidently activate the navigation system by hitting one of the buttons on the right side of the MFD when "pushing" one of the on-screen buttons (no, I'm not that clumsy, but I do try to keep my eyes on the road when I drive!). Once the navigation system starts telling me how to get to whatever my last destination was, how do I turn the damn thing off? I can "suspend guidance," I know. Is there anything else to be done?

You can also delete the destination, or destinations if you have more than one.

    I just suspend guidance.

Push the talk button, then say "delete all destinations." Or "Suspend Guidance," but that leaves the destination in memory.

I think "navigation off" also works.
If you are interested in keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel, I would think that the voice commands would be your best bet.

We just bought a 2017 Prius v five and are still in a learning curve. True, the manual for the Navigation is mostly straight forward, but the devil is in the details that it doesn't cover. I have defined our HOME location so we can quickly find a good way home from wherever we might be. Eventually the route gets us to familiar territory and I want to STOP NAVIGATION. Every GPS I have ever used, including the built-in Nav system on our Ford Fusion have a convenient button to STOP navigating. How the heck can we do this on the Prius?

I saw one post that recommends to delete destination. I don't want to delete my HOME destination. I just want to stop navigating. I see a suggestion to use a voice command "Navigation Off". I'll try that the next time I'm driving, but is it possible that the Prius Navigation system doesn't have a "STOP Navigating" button somewhere in the panel? I would consider that a design blunder.

The secret really is "delete next destination". The translation from the Japanese didn't go so terribly well. It doesn't delete anything, other than taking the next destination off the list of places it's telling you to go. In other words, it stops navigating. :)

Thanks for that explanation! Even people at the Toyota dealer seemed to be vague and confused about this question!
