    Dealer discount is $3,100 and Toyota's incentive is $3,500.

    DCH Toyoya of Milford in Milford MA. Their website says they have about 20 Primes on their lot..

    Contacted the dealer yesterday. They offered 3500+3500 off. Do you know how to apply the tax credits from state and federal ? Thanks.

    Yeah the $3500+$3500 off is their publicly advertised discount. (See the Pic attached). You should be able to get more if you step up your negotiation game. Now that DCH has come out with an openly advertised $ 7000 off, other dealers should be following suit soon. Note that DCH has just 18 Primes Now(contrary to their claim of huge inventory in that Ad). About a 6 weeks ago, they had 40 on their lot. Seem like the discounted price is working well for them. Prime rt 2 did the same thing and they sold out their Prime inventory in less than a month. Now DCH is offering good pricing openly. Good times for New England Prius Prime Buyers.:):):)

    regarding the Tax credits, you can search in the forum, got some good threads dedicated to the tax credit thingie..

    MSRP of $30,293, They can offer it at $23,293
    But, Doc. Fee is $495

    What do you think about Doc. Fee is $495

    That would be illegal in my state, where it is capped at $150. And according to our state Attorney General, "Dealers must disclose this $150 optional fee in their advertisements when stating sales prices of cars." I.e. if not disclosed in the ad, then they can't make you pay it. And they can't refuse to sell the car at the advertised price.

    Personally, I add it in to the my quoted price before making comparisons. Not quite fully accurate, because this fee is not subject to sales tax here, but otherwise makes for apples-to-apples price comparisons.

    And this also rules out the possibility of me traveling there to get a Prime, unless they agree to waive it for out of state buyers. (Fat chance.) As I replied in the other thread, travel costs already consume at least 75% of my 'savings' compared to buying locally. This so-called 'doc' fee (really just Added Dealer Profit, as MSRP already covered this cost before this 'fee' was invented) wipes out most of the remainder.

    Here in Utah we have a doc fee of $399. That goes for all dealers no matter what brand.

    MA and UT are with the majority of states that don't regulate or cap this bogus 'fee', which is really just another name for additional dealer markup:

    When I first encountered this bogus new-fangled 'fee' when buying my 2010 Prius, I made sure it was wrapped into any quoted price, so any negotiations were below that line, not above it. This particular invasive species hadn't reached my area for any of my prior car purchases.

    What does matter is that it is a large and variable cost that is excluded from the number heralded in the large bold type. And it is named in a way to catch the unwary as thinking it is a mandatory government fee, which it is not.

    At least with the state required taxes, the amount is based on where I register the car, not where I buy it, so all dealers are on a level playing field for that item. But that isn't true of this bogus 'doc fee', which isn't tendered to any government tax authority.

    If dealers put the actual bottom line number in the big bold type at the top of the advertisement, this wouldn't be an issue. But they never do that.

    agreed, but they could just make up something else. that's why i always ask for the bottom line and tell them i'm getting a bank check.

    i had my daughter do that for her new subie. sales weasel didn't care, but the finance manager nearly had an aneurism.:cool:

    I am fine with Document Fees. Dealers have to make a profit somewhere. Some with a huge discount to entice buyers and slum them with an exorbitant "fee", others with "no document fee" gimmick to lure customers but gives less discount. All you need to see is the number at the bottom.
