Ran out of gas! Opportunity to assess gas tank capacity

    That won't be legal in California, especially in smog-filled L.A. Leave that experiment to someone else in an area without tight emission controls and inspections.

    They have emissions standards in Japan as well. I just wonder how different the 2 tanks are? Do they have the same number of vent connections?

    Don't confuse evaporative emissions with exhaust emissions.

    A brief internet search indicates that Japanese evaporative limits are way behind U.S. limits. The U.S. rules tightened sharply in 2004, when Gen2 Prii rolled out. Japanese rules are similarly tightening up only about now, half way through Gen4's life cycle. So a Japanese-market Gen2 system will flunk California rules for that age car.

    Dude what ever tricks people have for this gas tank doesn’t work on mine. It can get super cold here and it takes the same amount as hot weather. It’s always 6-7 gas with two bars left.

    I think people from northern states would chuckle at your take on “super cold”. It never gets below 0 in LA

    Ya lol I considered 30 super cold. Heck I grew up from a pacific island nation that super humid where 30 days of 90 degree temperature. Sooooo it’s all about one’s perspective.
