Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. If I read Toyota battery codes right, this one was a G13 which means July 2013. It did it's job.

I took a big ol' car battery and attached it in parallel to get it home. Can't get a Toyota battery on a Sunday night, but O'Reilly had one in stock. Car works fine now.

Really? 705 ratings on Amazon for the Optima 75% 5 star. Sounds solid to me.
The AC delco is higher at 78% but only 129 reviews. It’s also much cheaper at 145.25. 92.74 cheaper is a big difference.

Optima are NOT legitimate 12v batteries... They don't even test and destroy defective batteries. They resell them w/out even testing them... If we had consumer legitimate consumer protection laws, they'd be out of business by now.

Those are terrible numbers... If Optima was a reputable battery company and not a bunch of criminals it would be higher than 95% people who are happy...

Your crazy agenda to praise the most common DOA battery that's used in Prius is appalling. You're doing no one a service with so much dishonesty... And where would like me to move on to? Do you really think tomorrow when you praise the worst Prius battery you can buy I'm not gonna have anything to say?

Was the battery that died an OEM Toyota one?

I'm just wondering whose car you got the big ol' battery out of, since you needed to get home? :)

Doesn't everyone keep a spare battery or two in the garage?

Yes, and I have two in my garage, but I thought you were stranded some distance from your home.

    Chill please.
Optima has a rather sketchy reputation for bad initial quality.
They also make claims of being vastly superior......which they aren't.

YOU should do whatever you think is right.
YOU should not fight with others who do not agree with your choice.

If you read my post you would see the AC Delco was the top rated battery at 78%. That’s the closest to your imaginary 95% as 5 star ratings go.

OptimaJim literally admits that they don't test defective batteries that are returned to them because there's nothing wrong with them... OptimaJim literally admits that they don't destroy defective batteries like other battery makers do, they just recharge them and resell them without even a problem... That's a smoking gun @Skibob

Want more proof? How about the guy who went to Hybrid shop in Colorado and saw more than 10 defective Optima batteries piled up that couldn't be used. How many of these batteries are the work of the dishonest corporate criminals that OptimaJim gleefully promotes as a virtue?

I've posted that information in response to you before, but you seem to much of a coward to rebut those solid smoking gun claims about Optima and instead go after low hanging fruit of Amazon ratings. How much does Optima pay you to be so dishonest with yourself and everyone else?

Why would I rebut your wild a** claims when 528 people on Amazon think the Optima battery is 5 star. I have no intention of defending the battery, when mine goes bad I’m going to replace it with a cheaper brand. Seems to me you get angry when someone challenges your psychotic hate of Optima battery’s.

It's the denial of first hand testimony from members of Priuschat that pisses me off so much... Claiming Amazon ratings as proof Optima is not a terrible battery totally denies the near weekly posters who come here for help because they bought a new 12v Optima and their car is still having problems. Every time I cite evidence of Optima and specific first hand testimony as to why they're a problem you directly interfere with helping that person by making them think their car has other problems than the garbage Optima battery that is causing their problem. That's not helping people, that's hurting people.

That’s not the way I see it. Every time someone has a problem and mentions they have an Optima battery your mind goes on Tilt and you rant and rave about how bad Optima battery’s are. I’m pretty sure many of those problems actually have nothing to do with the battery.
