Hi. I bought today an OBD2 device to check on the battery status of my 2010 Prius with a P0A80 code. I have been recommended not to buy any extremely cheap dongles because they tend to fail a lot. I bought one today for a decent price with a discount from AutoZone and 3 months warranty. The device is the following: Pilot Odb-1001 for Android Bluetooth Pilot Automotive OBD Reader OBD-1001.
I've been reading some other posts on how to correctly read data but it's all over the place.
Just in case someone else needs some guidelines on how to correctly review data with this system as I do, I have a couple of basic questions:
    - What apps are recommended, compete and accurate. Are any free ones?
    - How to take the readings, with the battery discharged, full, halfway, with the moving car.
    - What are the correct values for each cell for a Gen3 Prius.

I've been using Dr Prius app and Torque but I did not know the last one isn't free.
No matter but before buying an app I'd like to know which one is worth it.
One more thing, I read there are settings to be imported into the app depending on the car model, where can I find them?

This thread contains the instructions to import the Prius Gen 3 PIDs to use with Torque.

GenIII Prius Custom PIDs for Torque app | PriusChat

The Pro version of Torque costs $5 and I am familiar with it. It will definitely allow you to monitor the State of Charge of each module at rest and under load and Internal Resistance, which are 2 of the more important measures of battery health. Possibly there are some functions that are available in the free version, if you have the correct PIDs. I know Torque has been around a long time. It is possible Dr Prius and Hybrid Assistant are easier to use and will provide even more useful information since (I believe) they are newer.

One quick question, a mechanic told me with an ODB2 and app on my phone I'm only able to check on the main computer. There are many others, for electric system, chassis, hydrolic system, HV battery and many others. Is this true? Or do I need a specific app or hardware to have a wider range of readings?

Spend the $6 and buy the Torque Pro app.
    Seriously. Just do it.

It comes preloaded with the HV battery stuff.
You just need to "turn it on" within the app, and then set up the screens. Drag and drop and choose things from drop down menus.

With Torque Pro app you will see much of what you will need to deal with a p0a80 code. HV battery state I charge, block voltage, amps in/out, rpm, accessory battery voltage, HV battery voltage.

The Torque Pro app appears to only be available for Android devices. There is no iPhone app I can find in the Apple App Store. There are a couple of similarly named apps but they are not the Torque Pro app.

The Torque Pro website: Torque OBD2 Wiki confirms android only.

Any recommendations for an iPhone app that will work on the Gen 3 (with elm327 wifi reader/transmitter)? I have a Gen 2 and the "Car Scanner" app works well on the Gen 2 but does not work well on the Gen 3 (can only read engine temp, rpm and speed).

    My elm327 transmitter:

So the nice thing about the Pro Torque app is that all the hybrid battery parameter are preloaded.
You don't have to load them manually.
You have to set up the screens yourself but it is very flexible.

You'll likely find Dr hybrid app helpful.
It has present screens and test and is geared specifically to Hybrids. The app has additional in app purchases. I can remember cost anymore. So maybe you can report back here what those are. (From memory it was like $25 for ability to do multiple cars? I might have this wrong.)

A cheap android phone/tablet that has WiFi access likely costs $25 or less.
