There was suprisingly very little to the kit. Just 2 wiring harness and thats all. I was pressed for time as I was out the door and packing fishing gear in the Prius when UPS dropped the package at my door. Like a lil kid I ripped the box open and imediately tore apart my dashboard and started installing it. About 20min later I was finished.

I plugged my iPod into the AUX input and it works gret. I have yet to try the DVD portion because my laptop only has S-video outputs and the Lockpick uses RCA input. I'll grab an adapter of some sort and try it out tomorrow and let you guys know how it went.

I'll be purchasing a DIN sized DVD/MP3 player to go in the lil storage bucket below the radio so I don't have to use my iPod and have wires everywhere. :)

I recieved the new replacement unit from Coastal and it works perfectly now. I never even had to contact them. My post was sent to them by someone from this forum and they responded immediately and sent me a new unit out. Thanks to the mystery person and Coastal!

Yeah. Taking the car apart is easy. It took time trying o figure out what to do with this extra plug that there was no opening for. I then relaized it was only if you have extra accesories so its not used. *shrug* I'm on my way to the store to buy one of those cheap portable DVD players. After some thought I decided I dont want to permanently mount a DIN unit and when I take my lil sister or nephews placed they can hold the portable unit so the screen doesnt distract me :)

Ok so I went and bought a portable DVD player today and hooked it up. Everyhting works perfect and the quality is good. Switching the screen form DVD to normal car information is as easy as hitting the volume up and down button on the steering wheel. The MODE buttong on the streering wheel also still works to switch between all sources.

In all I am very happy with the product and speed in which it was delivered. Took about 3 months less than my EV mod and I got Jelly Bellys (even though I was born and raised near the factory) hahaha

I'll take some pics tonight when its dark.

    Sounds cool!

If I didn't already have their NAV Enhancement kit, I'd get one.

I just got my Ultimate Lockpick today. Someone mentioned popping out the middle speaker to install, and I tried it, it works great and only takes 5 mins to install. *IF* all you want is nav, bluetooth, and video.

Unfortunately, I wanted to hook up the audio, so that's a bit more involved since you have to take all the panels off to get to the back of the radio unit. I was nervous, since I've never done any car mods before, but it was all pretty easy and only took an hour or so.

Actually, the hardest part was figuring out where to run my wires... initially i considered running them to the upper glove box, but currently I have my iPod in the center armrest box, so (using a hook I made from a coathanger) I ran the wires under the carpeting from the center post to the center armrest. I drilled a small hole in the inside of the armrest box to fed the wires in.

It came out great! The install is seamless, and works great. Video, audio, and nav mods work great. The video seems to be an odd aspect ratio, but, hey, it works. I didn't test the bluetooth since I don't have a bluetooth phone.

No more clackity-clack from the tape adaptor, i now have proper audio in!

Kudos to Coastal eTech! I was concerned, cause I tried to order something from them a couple years ago and my order got lost or something and was never processed, but this time I made sure to call and talk to a human, and also checked if it was in stock. They shipped it out pretty quick, and it works! Yay! :D

Thats exactly what i'd like to do, the DVD in the little compartment under the CD changer, but ALAS, no lockpick for the 2006 models (yet). Hopefully they'll be getting one soon...... let us know how you like it or if any problems develop. thanks, congrats!!

OK to either F8L or tevk. When the NAV override is operating, what do you see? I mean, what happens when you press the "DEST" button?

You have to activate the NAV override. The Ultimate Lockpick just automatically enters the keystrokes to put the car in the diagnostic mode. You can even see the the screens changing. After that, the NAV works just as if you weren't moving.

To activate the NAV override, you press the bullseye symbol on the top left corner of the NAV screen.

Are you talking about not being able to view the DVD portion while driving? Or something NAV related?

I dont have NAV so I'm not sure but I am kind of annoyed I cant see the DVD while moving.

Coastaletech must have sent a whole batch of them out the door this week. I got mine too. Installed the Ultimate Lockpick, plus the EV mod, and got it all done in less than an hour today. Everything works exactly as advertised. I hooked up iPod video and audio and I was very impressed with the quality of the movie on the MFD. Looks great. Jelly beans were a nice touch too! Good job Coastaletech.

Okay, Okay, you have convinced me. I just ordered one for my '05. I do have XM radio also (I installed aftermarket). Do you think I need the AUX audio isolator to? I hope not, since I did not order it.

I hope my experience is as good as the others reporting on the forum!

I guess my problem is not normal so they sent me out a new unit today. That was really quick. :) I'll install it and post back with the results!

OK, I have a package 6 '05 with the XM unit which integrates witht he MFD and factory radio. I just installed the Ultimate Lockpick and it works perfectly. Now my passenger can use my phone and navigation without my having to stop. OK, and a big THANK YOU to Dave at Coastal for making this product available to us.

Thanks! The reason I was asking was that back when the original NAV Enhancement kit was offered at the beginning of 2005, what you saw on the demo was the DEST screen with most of the items ghosted and then active a second later. When I did get the kit, it did what you described. I'm guessing the original version was like electronically cutting the purple speed sensor wire, but the plan was dropped for some reason. If that were true, that would work for the 2006.

That is exactly my set up. Did you need to get the AUX AUDIO ISOLATOR Coastal ETech is offering?

I did get the isolator and installed it. I do not know if that is all one needs to play any of the other devices. The install was pretty easy really. Took about 25 minutes staret to finish. The only suggestion I would have for Coastal is they need to add more install, step by step photos of the procedure. But it really is just plug and play. Good luck.

    Hi

For those of you who have received the kit, when did you originally place the order? I've been waiting for about a month and can't get in touch with anyone at the company. I wasn't too concerned based upon the experiences of others who have received mods (long waiting time, little or no contact with coastaletech) but in most of those cases they said that their CC had not been charged until they received shipping info (and in my case the card was charged with no shipping info or, like I said before, no reply from the company). The upshot of my question is, in your opinion dealing with coastaletech, should I be concerned at this point and if so how would you recommend getting in touch with them.

    Thanks for any input.

I would try to call them, 800.507.2234, and figure out what is going on. I called them twice last week and reached them each time. Let the phone ring and if their answering system kicks in, call back. They were wonderful on the telephone and I actually spoke with Dave when I had a question about my install. They get a gold star for this transaction from me, but a bad mark for the last two orders I placed and never received, of course I was never charged either. I just hope my experience this time is going to be the rule and not the exception. Did I mention that I love the blue tooth and nav upgrade..... :)
