Your CWP probably still has restrictions concerning guns in school parking lots, if that might become an issue.

ok... I did buy the holster in the first post.... it was a success... it didn't fit where I thought it was going to fit however.

    1. Underneath the steering wheel down by the lower part of the dash is not a good idea... I didn't realize thats an airbag there.... would hate to get my gun slammed into my nuts in a crash!....
    2. I paid an extra 5 dollars that strapped around the steering wheel and allows you to mount underneath the steering column... however the angle stinks.. its so horizontal I was concerned the gun may want to fall out.. there is a strap snap to hold the gun in the holster and that would keep that from happening but I still didn't like it.
    3. Next what I thought was going to be my first choice "next to the dash alongside the console".. but there wasn't enough width to clamp onto there.. the holster setup is designed for a wider object to clamp to.
    4. Next, I checked out the side of the console midthigh area but the seat smashed against it so much it was very hard to slide the gun in the empty holster.
    5. The final resting place of same as #4 except closer to the seatbelt... "mid console".. it worked great actually!

If anyone decides to buy this, I recommend clamping the bottom first "after you play with it without the gun inside to find your proper length adjustment" and then slipping over the top edge of the console.... it clamps over just perfect.
I weigh about 195 lbs and the gun doesn't even brush against my hip.. I can't tell its there...
My wife on the other hand has hips......

    Here are some pics....
looking in... would need to throw something over when not in car.....

That is not a legal carry in Texas. If it can be seen, its not legal.

Are you sure? Proxy has one, and a G38, thought it would be sexy. Something about an ultimate phallic symbol. His admission sure fit the yahoo style.

Back to topic, I don't believe that holster mount would be legal in this state either, as it would be visible from outside. And certainly, throwing something over it when you leave wouldn't be enough. Seattle's former Chief of Police can unfortunately confirm that. SPD didn't reveal how he had his service arm hidden and secured, but it was never recovered. Maybe thieves knew there was no such thing as a civilian Crown Vic in Seattle.

That brass in the cupholder is playing tricks on my eyes: is all of it spent rounds, or are there some RF SMB connectors in there as well?

Lol, good of you to notice that, those have been there about a year.. A single 10mm,. 45, and 40 Cal. I saved those 3 from the gun range "notice one is smashed". They were saved to demonstrate how a 10 mm is simply a long 40 Cal. And a 45 while being much shorter is quite a bit fatter but the exact same length as the 40. . Casing is only half loaded with power "I load my own".... Oh no!
    And rf connectors..... Good job!

Funny how we talked quite a while with no contention on this topic till the pictures came out!

I noticed one will need to adjust slightly forward or back based on how far they want the drivers seat to be back.
You are ever aware of its presence with it so close, but that's not a bad thing, just different.

I don't have to worry about a passenger reaching down and grabbing it in curiosity or just because they want to check it out.... I have full control of it at all times.

Also pretty cool that in darkness of driving at night "My work requires frequent night driving" my tritium rear sights are visible to give me instant orientation details to its exact whereabouts.

I originally wanted to mount it where the console meets the firewall areas here...

But the clamp on the bracket would not adjust down to such a narrow place to latch too.

At any rate, it's firm and secure and won't go flying around in a crash or sudden slam on the brakes like it could if simply laid in the lower console tray.

For now I'm totally satisfied and consider the purchase a success as its very well built and didn't cost a fortune to find out.
$35.00 + $25.00 for the clip pouch sewn to the front edge of the holster.

Nice rig! What are you going to cover it with to conceal it? Just a cloth?

    Dear all,
We the staff of Priuschat took particular interest in the off-topic bickering. We have reached a group consensus and I'm the one carrying it out. And thus, I look like the bad guy.

    But here is goes:
I have removed many posts from this thread. We have made note of where the snarkiness started.
In the future, in the event of continued snarkiness, I will remove members from this board. It's simple, actually: I change your password and ban your IP.
Using the past to anticipate the future, I suspect I will receive PMs indicating that "he started it" and when the bans get handed down we will be painted as being unfair, too liberal or too conservative, but definitely closed-minded. This is why I am being very public about this.

Do not say you were not warned; everyone knows otherwise.

Been a while since I've been active on the forum, I wasn't aware of who was who... My fault for enjoying a good spirited debate with a pony that thinks he's a horse....
Sorry I didn't slow down and recognize the obvious.
I'll try to not be so sensitive, I just don't tolerate jerks too well the older I get.

What if you are a Lyft or Uber driver? The threat could come from a person in the passenger seat, or sitting behind you inside the car. Or a threat could come from the outside. Where is the best place the keep your gun so that its ready to use.

Knowing someone who works special security projects for Lyft I know they don’t allow the carry or brandishing of firearms.

So there should be nothing to conseal or hide.

I believe this is a violation of employment rules or contract requirements for both.

But if you absolutely must, why not a shoulder holster? This is accessible to you even when seated, and keeps others from grabbing it.

And be sure to have Plans B & C for other income producing activities. RKBA doesn't come with any right to employment.

    First things first.
Are you a Lyft or Uber employee or an independent contractor? ;)
Also, are you worried about losing your job or your life?
What state do you drive in and what states are you likely to drive in?

If you live on free soil and/or you have a carry permit then you have a RESPONSIBILITY to become familiar with the laws that apply to you specifically, and these include carry onto school property within the vehicle (allowed in most states) or 'parking lot storage' laws while at work (ditto.)

You should also noodle out how you intend to store and access your weapon and train accordingly.

Storage in important because if you live in a high crime area, a responsible gun owner does not want their weapon stolen.

@ shoulder holsters: The military leans away from these, particularly in combat areas because they’re deceptively hard to use, and the barrel is almost dead bang guaranteed (pun nearly unintended) to be pointed at something that you do not need to shoot.....like passengers in the rear seat.
Also...no gun range on the planet will let you practice with one (for obvious reasons.)

If you’re a Lyft or an Uber driver, you have to make a very fundamental decision about whether your car or your wallet is worth someone else’s life, and while this is true of all drivers I have the option as just a driver of keeping my doors locked and my windows up.....ALWAYS.
This means that I face a much more simple fight or flight decision.

Most people carry Tupperware guns these days.
Consider field striping the weapon and carrying just the plastic receiver with you and leaving the mag, barrel, and slide in the car.

    Good Luck!
