Broken Temperature Button

    DD2B3FB3-3938-4871-9CD6-D5C70B7B5A68.jpeg Sadly, had some bad luck having to slam on my breaks, and had something smash my temperature plastic button.

    Went to Toyota, and they told me I’d have to replace the whole console ($900 CAD).

    However, I only need the button. One single button.

    Anywhere that I should be looking? Without it, its metal and the bright light emits into anyone in the back seats.

    I wonder if the one from the right can either be used to control the temperature, or removed and placed in the hole on the left. All you'd lose would be dual zones. Then put a bit of black tape over the hole.

    Flipping and shifting that one to the right was my original idea as well. But, the metal latch that it clips to would then be on the wrong side. And the three buttons aren’t identical.

    My only other thought is the junk yard — but this is such a specific vehicle that I would be searching forever.

    The dealer is correct that the air conditioner control assembly is sold only as a unit. It’s shown in parts catalog Figure 87-15, Heating & Air Conditioning - Control & Air Duct, in the second of three images. The part number is 55900-47191, formerly 55900-47190.
    The junkyard now comes to you. Here’s one offered on eBay for $37.50 (U.S.), plus shipping and import duties:

    Slightly off topic, but there are some curious differences to mine here in the UK, other than just being flipped horizontally.

    So mine doesn't have a dedicated Eco button. Instead, the Auto button cycles through Eco, Normal, and Fast modes. Where the Eco button would be, I instead have a button labelled "Dual" button that turns on dual zones, and of course that necessitates a temperature lever button on the passenger side as well, so mine has four smaller levers along the bottom instead of three.

    Reminds me of my recent oven controller board replacement, that was around $260, all in. I landed on my feet though: the flexible circuit board for the buttons, on the front of the new unit, was defective: I needed to swap the old one to the new to get it working. They're semi-bonded on with adhesive, and it took about 1/2 hour patient work with a heat gun and prying, to get them swapped.

    I let them know about it, and they ended up refunding the full price. Good deal. :)

    Having the Canadian 2018 Technology package, does this have the same look? Can’t tell if that part is the glossy plastic of this model, or if other models were possibly matte?
    Alternatively, do you think it’d be easy to take off the button and just put it onto my current one?
