Extended warranty for Florida? Need your opinion on this one?

I just purchased a 2006 Prius. The dealer tried to sell me a 3rd party warranty (Fidelity Warranty Service), because apparently Toyota Financial's extended warranty is not allowed in this state. I decided not to go with Fidelity, because I just couldn't find any encouraging information about them on the internet, especially seaching them via Yahoo. Also, please excuse me if I'm pre-judging this company, but an extended warranty should also provide you with some "peace of mind". Right?

In the meantime, I'm considering just going with the "mechanical breakdown coverage" offered through my auto insurance (Geico) company. I know little about Geico's extended warranty other than the cost is very reasonable, and I haven't seen any complaints about their extended warranty on the internet. I've also been with Geico a number of years and I had no problem with them in the past when I had to file an accident claim. Any opinions or experiences with Geico's mechanical break down coverage?

    Any other suggestions?

One thing to check about your breakdown coverage is to make sure it covers taking you to the nearest Toyota dealer, not just to the nearest vehicle repair shop. That's because in my experience, nobody but Toyota dealers will even be willing to touch a Prius.

I checked with the Geico Mechnancial Breakdown claims division, and they said I could take it to any mechanic of my choice including a Toyota dealer. I posted more information about it in this discussion:

I also called a Toyota finance manager (someone here recommended) from out of state to ask about the Toyota extended warranty mentioned above, but no one has called me back yet. In the meantime, I feel pretty comfortable going with Geico's coverage.

It's possible that the warranty problem in Florida is because all of the Florida dealerships are privately owned and have some very wierd relationship with Toyota corporate.
