Google Maps Now Features EV Charging Stations

Still kinda new to this stuff (Since Sept 18th w/ Prime Plus). Been using Chargepoint, EVConnect as well as unnetworked charging points. PlugShare is my go to app to find the local plug in spot with many good comments in the users' remarks .

Any need to consider Google vs. PlugShare?

Been traveling down the east coast as far as Georgia in the past month. Finding NY has a good number of charging stations. Educational Institutions seem to be the most reliable source of a charge (often free). State and Federal Recreation areas also (ditto often free). Even stopped over the weekend @ a National Park Service facility that was "closed" due to politics yet the charging station was active and free.

Also noticed many electric companies have charging stations typically free (why not). They get you when you are home which is every night for most EV owners.

Charge-Ready-NY program apparently started Sept 18, 2018 with five million dollars budgeted. NYSERDA provides rebates of $4,000 per charging port for Level 2 charging stations installed at public, workplace, and multi-unit dwelling parking lots.

New York State provides an income tax credit of up to $5,000 for the purchase and installation of an electric vehicle charging station. The credit is targeted at commercial and workplace charging stations. The tax credit is available through the end of 2022.

About 1/2 the communities in our county have J1772 charging with approx. 50% free and the remainder charging 15 cents per KW.

So we pay high taxes in our state with at least a few benefits.

Just keep charging away waiting for Toyota to double the charging rate to 6.6 KW/hour. (Kinda feels like they don't value our time.)
