If you're not scared to take apart your dash and install 4 scotch lock connectors and crimp on 4 wires you can add this remote start module to your Prius V for around $150 delivered. It works really well, just press lock button 3 times to start the car and preheat (or precool it). The doors stay locked until you approach the car so nobody can drive off. When you open the door the car shuts off (like the OEM remote start) so you'll have to restart the car before you drive off. No big deal.

I installed 2 in the last week, the instructions are a little overwhelming but only 4 wires need to be connected and a T harness into the OBD port. If you've done any kind of audio/alarm work on a car it's pretty easy. You need the remote kit and 4 Red vampire taps and 4 male connectors along with a wire cutter, crimper, and stripper and basic tools to pop off the dash panels.

If your car is far away from your house, put a new battery in the remote fob and hold it to your chin, this will increase the range. I've started cars hundreds of feet away with this method.

When installing 3 wires tap into to the large connector going to BCM (Body Control module) and 1 wire goes to the push to start button. Remove the factory OBD2 port from the dash, Insert the OBD2 pigtail between the factory connector and install the new end into the dash. To pair the module to your car, plug the blue and red connector into the control module, press dash power button twice and that's it. You now have remote start.

Where do you buy the parts/module from? And I guess the instructions you mentioned come with the remote?
