Ouch! For the deer, that is. Glad it didn't hurt you, hope it didn't seriously hurt the deer, but can't tell.

My dashcam witnessed its first crash in action Sunday afternoon on the way to a ski hill. Spinout / sideswipe / struck car crossed road into far snowbank, nothing hard enough for injuries. State Patrol didn't call this week for my recording. Haven't yet learned to video edit and crop for posting here.

The idea that a good quantity of fuel is needed to cool gas tank installed fuel pumps might be true for Hemi cars traveling 120 MPH..... not so much, if your car is drinking at less than 1gallon per hour. Me.... I think its good measure, when you think your car will fill up with 9.8 gallons AND the gas station pump pumps 9.8 gallons & clicks.

I second that. We change Gen 3 sending units all the time. Part number is 83320-47080. And don't let anyone tell you you need an oil catch can.

That's like a tire company telling us not plug your punctured tires.

So if the sending unit is bad, does the fuel gauge display wrong info intermittently or all the time?
    Thx

Not sure, but I think we've seen both. We either fix it or tell people not to let it get below two bars until they can get it fixed. They usually read at least two bars.

I found the part. It looks like I can replace it from under the rear seat, not having to remove the tank. Can you confirm this? And just disconnect the bat to release pressure?

    Thank you for your help.

Not a Prius story, but a HiHy story. As an AZ employee, I get to use our lovely fix finder. It reads and stores the error code, we then plug it in to our console inside and it tells us what the problem is. So here are the codes it listed.

    P3190
    P3193
    P0302
    P0306

Simple, right. Out of fuel, poor engine power, and misfire on cyl 2&6.

Wrong, according to our computer. Replace engine timing chain is what our computer spit out. Of course the customer freaked as my co-worker was explaining the dire result our computer came up with. So I stepped in, looked at the codes, and asked her when the light came on.

I knew I was low on gas, but my other car would let me drive two days with the gauge on empty, and I thought this one would do the same. I made it into a gas station and filled it up, but why did the light come on?

I explained to her that the car probably told her several times that she was very low on fuel, and if you make frequent, short trips, you might be able to ignore those warnings once or twice, but the third time it warns you it’s time to hit the gas pump.

The repair manual has the correct procedure. I'm not telling you how to do it, but, I always do it through the access hole under the rear seat and without disconnecting the battery. In my opinion, disconnecting the battery isn't going to release the fuel pressure; however, unplugging the fuel pump and letting the ICE run until it releases the (runs out of) pressure should work.
