I've searched all over to see if anyone else experienced this issue but when reversing and hitting a bump sometimes the guidelines while reversing will show up. as far as I can tell there are no sensors on my back bumper. see video

Interesting. The camera generates the lines and keys them in internally, so if you're seeing the fill disappear then the fault is almost certainly in the camera module itself.

ya, it's pretty strange as everywhere I've searched says to me that the C is not equipped with guidelines. I bought this car from Carmax about 6 months ago and it is 2014 Prius c 4 alloy wheels sunroof GPS navigation and push to start. I'm thinking about taking it into the dealership and showing them this video and seeing what they say.

I'll venture a guess that the camera has already been replaced, and somebody used the new version of the part which superimposes marks. There are two part numbers listed for the camera- one is for 2015 & 16, the other is for '17-up. I can't find any parts notes confirming that one version does markers and the other doesn't, but it's the best theory I can offer.

Our 2018 came with a camera that shows markers.

As to why it isn't working? I would probably start by popping off the back hatch trim, getting to the camera and verifying the power delivery.

I'm trying to remember... but I vaguely recollect that one of the wires in the back of the head unit, generates the lines. But I could be misremembering. I looked at a lot of cameras about a year ago and can't remember specifics.

Fair enough... what I'm going from is that my car no longer has a Toyota head unit, yet the video feed still clearly has markers.

So what we've determined is that it could either be the camera or the head unit. :D

    One of us mis-read something.

My car has a toyota factory camera and an aftermarket head unit. I still get the markers. The aftermarket head unit I bought has the capability of keying in more lines, but I've disabled that. So the markers are inserted upstream from the head unit.

I haven't found any other module in line, so I think the graphics & keyer are integrated right into the camera.

Maybe both? Like you said, your head unit has that capability. Don't know... you're most likely right. I can't find the old threads I used to look at. :D

I haven't had much time lately to take the back latch off to check the camera module itself but I did a test by putting the car in reverse and opening and closing the back and the lines would appear much longer so it's definitely the camera itself.

when I get a chance to open the back latch ill definitely take some pictures and video.

I'm not all too much in need of the guidelines when reversing as I've driven my fair share of years but when something isn't working as intended I just have to tinker with it lol my dads the same way it's in my blood to tinker.
