Had a low-beam headlight go out, and replaced both sides with regular halogen H-11 bulbs...both sides per Consumer Reports on bulb dimming and keeping the two lights identical. But, when I checked on high/low beams and discovered that high beam is apparently a separate bulb. It was 20 degrees (F) outside when I did the work yesterday, so no dilly-dallying about...was I correct about another bulb? And, so, what is that bulb and is it as much fun to get in/out as the low-beam bulbs?

BTW, a temporary uncoupling of hose going to plastic reservoir on passenger side helped me get that bulb back in with the really short electrical cable connected.

Yes - the high / low are separate lamps.
    H11 for low
    9005 for high

Cheryl Root: I found the passenger side headlight replacement difficult until I temporarily disconnected the rubber hose that goes to a plastic reservoir. Using pliers I released the clamp at the reservoir, slid it backward on the hose some, then removed hose. After that I could move my hand enough to get the bulb in and out. Mind you, the cord to the light is very short. A search on the forum will find where a fellow replaced the bulb without the cord and then reattached the cord. I must have tried that with the bulb not seated correctly. I wore "examination" rubber like gloves to protect the bulb. Replace hose/clamp when done and before starting Prius. Good Repairing to you.

Clarification: Hose is not removed entirely. Just one end disconnected temporarily. Let it bend out of the way while working on headlight bulb replacement.

If the old bulb is hard to pull out / release from the L-connector...
use a small flat tip screw driver inserted- on one of the wider sides to release the sm plastic retaining tab

It just snaps back in when putting new bulp back in.
