My girlfriend has a electric lime 2015 Prius C One. Kermit gets great mileage, is wonderfully easy to drive in traffic, and has had no reliability issues (in every way, completely unlike my 2003 Mini Cooper S). We generally love Kermit. However, as a Prius C One, he does have a few short comings: limited adjustability of the front seats, no armrest up front, no privacy cover under the hatch, and lack of a split fold-down rear seat.

As we've been camping more of late, we've recently found the full rear seat increasingly vexing. We always have to choose between being able to take lots of stuff (but only two people), or up to four people (but much less stuff). We'd really like to have the option to take three people, and a fair amount of stuff.

So I've been thinking about swapping in a 60/40 rear seat from a higher trim level Prius C.

While trying to figure out which parts would have to be swapped, I looked up the parts diagrams for the various Prius C models, and there are different part numbers for the C One and the other trim levels for almost every part of the rear seats. However, the bottom part of the bench seat looks identical in design.

I'm wondering if I get away with just swapping the seat backs, and leaving everything else in place. I've searched the Priuschat forums a bit, looking for more information, but came up empty.

Has anyone ever tried to swap 60/40 rear seats into a Prius C One?

Hi! Were you able to find a solution to this? My husband and I are expecting our first child with our base model Prius C and want the 60/40 split so badly - we are always hauling gear and don’t want to take the car seat base out every time we want to flip the seat down. Where would you find the extra parts? Thanks!

I'd say you probably won't get a reply. He was a 1 post wonder and hasn't been back since July. He did say the underside of those seats appear identical so might be worth a try. Hit up a junk yard and find a seat on the cheap.

You could buy the parts from a dealer but buying them individually like that is very expensive.

dubit has the right idea, find a crashed one in a junkyard. I have not done this swap, but from a review of the parts it looks like you'll need the two seatback sections, the locking hoops where they anchor in the upright position, and rear side plastic trim moldings. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more though.

Note that changing the rear side plastic moldings also enables the use of the cargo cover board. The "one" version doesn't have mounts for the board, but the "two-three-four" version does.
