So i purchaed a 2013 prius that had been in minor accident, got the body repaired, but had water pump issues. P261b Love techstream, finaly got a funtional version, did all the wiring checking, finally pulled the water pump. Yes it was damaged either in the wreck or the body shop on the frame machine. I took off tire for better access to bolts holding in.
THE BACK OF THE PUMP IS PUSHED IN. possibly causing impeller to be moved forward. But the pump will not move out of position.
    1. Where can i find the measurement for the correct distance between the frame rail and engine?
    2. Suggestions on how to remove the water pump without damaging other parts? I have tilted turned, up down but, there is no way it seems to get the tip of the impeller out and free the pump.

    3. Would the impeller post possibly be extended when the two fins on the back pushed in?

i found that meguinness has posted a picture of the impeller after he replaced his, I have asked him how he removed the impeller from the water pump, I am thinking i might be able to remove the pump in two pieces?

I found a video of someone taking it apart, looks like my supposition that it is poked out may not be right. but the back smashed in definitely could cause short.

I also discovered that the broken part of the back is extruding the whole front section out of the metal case. It looks like it s the 1/4 inch I need to get it out of position.

If the frame is bent to the point that you can’t get the water pump out, that’s a bad sign;).

I was able to separate the water pump from the housing and not remove the wheel. Also, the magnets make removing the impeller difficult :(.

But I pulled one apart not too long ago and have 2 more sitting on the shelf:).

Good luck with your salvaged Prius (y).
