Possibly inverter coolant pump?

I was driving and my 07 Prius died and wouldn’t start back up. After searching the forums it appears that it is the coolant inverter pump. There was a weird smell coming from that area and the 15 A am2 fuse was blown. I put the spare fuse in and it would let me start it but as soon as I hit the button and put in neutral to move it off the side of the road I noticed smoke coming from under hood so immediately shut it off. I’m guessing that fuse burnt up again. Any ideas on if it’s the coolant inverter pump or something else. I have to take an Uber to get to it in the morning and try to repair it myself. Any help is appreciated. I can also be reached by text at 808-8550170.

Do you have a hybrid compatible OBD2 code reader, if not now might be the time to research and purchase/borrow one.

Yes, it would be the pump. Easy to replace, generally speaking.

After disconnecting (electrically) the failed pump, you can replaceme the AM2 fuse again without it blowing. This will allow you to start and move the vehicle around over short distances. But I wouldn't drive it far or fast without a working inverter pump.

Sorry to hear the vehicle is still being a bear :(

Sounds like you may need an OBD2 code scanner for this application (y)

You might try a blue tooth adapter for $2 which connects to your phone/droid, or a mini-vci cable w/ techstream for about $20.

There are other options, depending on your fiscal situation or technical skill set.

If no monies, visit a auto parts chain and borrow or ask for a free OBD2 scan, not all scanners are hybrid compatible - go try another.

Having trouble setting up a laptop with a mini-vci cable and techstream, go with a 'Vxdiag Vcx Nano' for Toyota cable setup instead.

This is where you bypass the pump and replace the fuse. It'll let you start the car and move it for 10 to 15 minutes.....without fear of damaging anything.

So I got my pump changed and I think I got the air out of the system as well. I drove it 30 minutes home last night. My dash lights only work half the time and it won’t let me turn car off unless I hold button for 3 seconds. That module seems to be going bad. My display screen worked even though dash lights weren’t working. It wasn’t tracking mpg on the display though. I unplugged all 3 plugs to 12v battery area for 5 mins to reset that red triangle and have had dash lights go out two of the 4 times I started it. Any suggestions?

Change the combination meter and the dash lights will return
