I have a 2006 Base model - (Linea Sol in France)
Radio has on the front "53815"
Taking the radio out, a sticker on the top says "Type 53810"

I want to add an AUX input to this base model radio.
I do not want to upgrade the radio, or buy a second aftermarket radio.

I purchased a device which connects into the CD Changer port and has an AUX connection on the other end. (This is not an advertisement, just a cry for help. There are similar items available online.)
    elec-auto com/toyota/266-interface-auxiliaire-toyota-2.html

So I installed it following great instructions from other posts on this site as to how to break down the dashboard.
    priuschat com/threads/stealth-install-an-aftermarket-stereo-in-prius.38700/
So when I press "CD", a blue power light comes on the device.
The 3.5mm Aux is connected to my playing iPhone.
No sound is played by the car.

I know there are some conflicts with the 20pin connector cable. So I tried removing it.
At all times, the buttons for AC Auto, Temperature, Window Demister front and rear continue to work as normal.
With the 20pin connector removed, if I press CD, the blue light comes on the device so it is getting power, and sound plays. Great.
But now I have no "Fuel Consumption data, and if I press Climate on the MFD, I get a message saying "Check Air Conditioner Connection".

So I reconnected the 20pin connector and removed indvidual wires from it via process of elimination to establish what they do and the effect on the CD Changer / Aux device
(I used this thread for info)
    priuschat com/threads/identifying-pins-wires-help.74610/
    Removed:
    pin 7=black/gold dot,SW1
    pin 8=white/gold dot SW2
These are the volume, mode and tuning buttons from the steering wheel.
Disconnecting these, obviously these controls are lost (no effect on the other Steering wheel buttons).
With the device plugged into the CD Changer port, pressing "CD" on the radio, I can see that the device is powered but no sound is played from the Aux.

    I reconnected these 2 wires.

    Removed:
    pin 9=pink, TX+
    pin 10=white TX-
These relate to the transmission of data to the MFD.
With the device plugged into the CD Changer port, I can press CD, see the device is powered as the light comes on, and the Aux input works.
But like I said before, I cannot access Climate control via the MFD and no Trip Info.

I have decided on the following arrangement until a better solution
20 pin connector connected - but with this arrangement:
Installed pin 6= red/gold dot GND
    Installed pin 7=black/gold dot,SW1
    Installed pin 8=white/gold dot SW2
    Removed pin 9=pink, TX+
    Removed pin 10=white TX-
Aux device connected to CD changer port

I have all the Steering Wheel controls.
I have no Climate control via the MFD and no Trip Info, so I have switched off the display in the Display settings.
    I can play Aux input.

Can someone tell me what is missing? Why do I have a conflict between the CD changer port and the 20pin connector Transmission Wires.
    How do I fix this?

And I have not used a Y Harness as it was not supplied with the device, and I think it is not necessary as this plugs directly into the spare CD Changer port, just like 2 other car kits

I've purchased the same aux in adapter from ebay (the seller claimed it worked with 2008 Prius) and have run into the same issue. Any solution?

I've also run into the same problem, and it appears from the comments on the GTA Kit video that others have as well. I've emailed them and will follow up here if they have any insights to share.

This is an old post but I thought I would contribute: I figured out how to get the WT-USB Aux adapter to work with Steering Wheel Controls and working Climate Controls (this should work with other brand Aux adapters too). Remove wire 9 (pink) and wire 10 (white) from the 20 pin connector. Plug the 20 pin connector back into the stereo. Attach a 68ohm resistor ( between wire 9 and 10 and wrap with electrical tape. You loose the beep when pushing climate or other buttons but everything else works.

Use a 68R or 68Ohm 1/4 Watt with color band (Blue, Grey, Black, Gold). NOT a 68K!!!

Hello Carl Wenz - any chance you could show a few photos of this procedure - and links to the adapter and resistor that will work? I'm a little lost - but capapble of doing this.

have had to remove the 6cd jbl changer (with nav and tape no aus/cd2 buttons) again to reset it as the cd load light just kept flashing). now that i'm opening the dash again - i'd like to add aux/ipod capability to the unit.

    thanks for any further advice.

    thanks for any thoughts.

an alternative solution would be for me to put in a later toyota cd player model from ebay - that will have abitlity to add aux to the rear connector.

    photos of our unit-
    (we have 2004 w/ jbl 6cd changer + tape + navigation)

and the connectors only connect to the far left and far right positions- the 6 over 6 is open on the stereo - but when i connected an aftermarket kit i wasn't able to 'find' it - i have no extra cd/aux/sat button?

[/ QUOTE]

Funcionou perfeitamente pra mim. Perdi somente as informações de volume e radio na tela.
