High Mileage Prius

    Alright, so I am looking at a high mileage 07 Prius (228Kmi) and seems to have a tow installed on it(maybe)?

    Should I run away from it? Or as long as there's maintenance history and it checks out, should be fine?

    One key thing, I don't commute everyday and usually drive over the weekend, can a hybrid had any negative affect being not driven everyday?

    What do you mean about having "a tow installed on it?"

    This is just my opinion, but I would not buy a car with anywhere near that many miles on it. I'm not one bit afraid of 100,000 miles, but 228,000 already has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

    Weekend driving should not hurt as long as you drive enough to keep the 12V charged up or else keep it on a trickle charger. That goes for any car, not just a hybrid.

    I think he means a tow hitch? To be fair, it "might" have just been used to mount a bicycle rack, but who knows. To me, high miles and a tow hitch, I wouldn't chance it.

    I would not consider ANY vehicle with 228 thousand miles on it......probably not even if someone paid me to take it.

    The odds are extremely high that you will be buying a headache......that will last a LONG time.

    So like how much does the guy want for the car? That would kind of help us with an answer. If it’s 500 bucks I say go for it.

    Thanks all, definitely not $500 - more like $2000.

    But I am going to pass on it, based on the advise - in no rush to find the car.

    if you're looking for a cheap prius, you should be armed with tech stream, the service manual, and excellent diy skills
