P0011 code which CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL VALVE should i go with?

    I've been getting the P0011 code every 700-800 miles now for the past 3,000 miles. I've already checked and cleaned the filter and now I think its time to replace the CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL VALVE, the question is, should I go with an aftermarket one on amazon/ebay or the OEM one? Do any of you'll have any experience using the less expensive aftermarket ones? Thanks

    That circuit is all about oil quality and quantity. What kind of oil are you using and what viscosity?

    If it was me I would buy the oem valve. Then if it does not fix it you know its not the valve because it was oem. After market parts are a waste of time imho.

    Test the valve after you take it out put 12 volts to it see if it actuates.

    ... plus, it is a very low failing part, so the cost per mile is very cheap. I also wouldn't use after-market parts for somethings, this part being one.

    PS, you said you cleaned the filter, what about changing that, too?

    My vote is for OEM also. Many times you can get the OEM brand from a source other than Toyota for a reduced price. Does the part have any markings on it?

    I get P0011 once in a long while. Did not do anything about it. It would always go away if I did not reset it sooner. Last time this happened was more than a year ago (20K+ miles). I would recommend get a replacement from junk yard if necessary.

    Update, I purchased one off amazon for $18 bucks then I changed the oil to 0w-30 Mobile one with 1/2 quart of Lucas ultra synthetic and I’ve gone over 200miles with no Check engine light. Car seems to run better as well. And I think I’ve gained 2-3mpg. Will update once I have over 1000 miles.

    Try cleaning the little inline oil filter first. Its a real bitch to get that hex key bolt head off its really socked on there. Need a breaker bar with a high quality hex socket not a harbor freight pos a real one.

    Btw where has the car been getting its oil changes all its life?
