Getting ready to purchase a set of snow tires mounted on wheels from tirerack. I see they have black steel wheels for $46 as an option for the 2009 model but they don't show them as avail for 2010 model and instead want me to buy a set of more expensive alloy wheels. Wondering if I order a 2009 steel wheel set and mount some 185/65/15 snows on them if I'd be OK. They suggest 195's for 2010 and this is why they probably don't have the black steel wheels avail. I have a Prius V right now with stock 17's. Would this work?
    Thanks!

I was able to find some steel wheels for my II (15"). They also fit the Corolla, Matrix, etc. For the V, I am sure they would work but it may handle a bit different. Not sure what the trade off would be.

Prius with 15" wheels have different offset that 17" Prius, thats why they don't recom those wheels.

Narrow snow tires are better in deep snow at asphalt roads. Still, mine stud tires are 195/65R15. We have more ice than snow where I'm driving...

I am running Continental ExtremeWinter Contacts (195/65/15) on Discount Tire's 15" multi-fit wheels for wintertime. The car doesn't handle the same as the A/S tires on 17s; but, then again, I didn't expect it to.
