Taking 'new' 2012 v (70k miles) to my mechanic...

    Just bought her last week, had the Toyota dealer nearby look her over - didn't find anything of note. Maintenance records were good, only problem ever reported was an ID10T Bluetooth issue. Prior owner always did all the recommended stuff except for wipers and cabin air filter.

    Anything in particular I should have my new mechanic do? I will be driving 500-1000mi a week for the foreseeable future. Just want to make sure I set her up for success. Many thanks for your time and advice!

    not much to do in the first 100k. check the tires and brakes for your trip. 70k gets oil and filter, tire rotation.

    make sure the 60k service included air and cabin filters.

    consider a tranny fluid change if it has never been done. all the best!(y)

    The ATF WS in the transaxle should be changed every 100,000 miles, doing the first one early doesn't hurt

    It is just drain and fill, no flush. About $100 at my dealer.

    Thanks guys! The car has been impeccably maintained inside and out, I'm hoping that bodes well for under the hood. I've heard lots of good things about this mechanic, I've got my fingers crossed I have a similar experience.

    Oil and fuel.
    Those two things will tell you how efficient your car is, and an efficient car is a healthy car.
    With your driving patterns you should be able to quickly determine WIN-WIN (what is normal, what is not) and react to little things before they become big things.

    If you're not into the DIY thing, at least familiarize yourself with the schedule of maintenance and what is involved with all of the maintenance tasks and perhaps watch a few vids to see what's involved.
    Ground-truth any maintenance or repair quotes on this forum.

    You have a 250,000 mile car....but you gotta want it.

    You can't change the transaxle fluid early enough. Well maybe, but at the one year mark, then stretch it, would be my recommendation.

    Since nobody's mentioned it: Intake Manifold and EGR circuit cleaning.

    And Oil Catch Can.
