AF99C215-F316-4A3A-9604-B66C1F94F520.jpeg We were both turning left. He turned left and I followed him. He stopped abruptly as I was still turning behind him. Collision avoidance didn’t help, probably because I wasn’t directly behind him yet.

The bill went from $1400 & 3 days work to $5600 and 10 days. Yikes! The biggest expense was LED headlamp assembly, $1636.

In the 10 days I was driving a rental (Nissan Sentra) there are some things I missed and a couple I appreciated.

Really missed heated seats and steering wheel!
Grateful for the additional clearance given all the snow we’ve been getting, and the old-school knobs to control the heat & defroster.

So happy to have her back!

Hm yeah. A bit less than 20% of the car price, brand new to repair that? Something is up with that quote.

wasn't one of the purposes of the split front bumper to lower the cost of repairs so you didn't have to pay for the whole thing?

repair costs for cars are just absolutely ridiculous

I am so happy to have my car back! I normally grumble about the cacophony of buzzers she serenades me with, but I really missed them in the rental car. Especially in our wintry driving conditions, it's nice to feel protected again.

So if you rear ended the Lyft driver, are you responsible for his/her damage also?

I'm curious why 'Lyft driver' is used in the title and - presumably - considered something unique from any other driver or object being hit. The only variable I can see if he was carrying passengers and they decide to go after someone's insurance.

Now, there can be a separate discussion on how ride sharing services add to traffic and how annoying double-parked waiting drivers can be, as well as hilarious stories of hot babes getting in your car thinking you're their driver while you waiting for you loved one (and her seeing those babes getting out), but that's for another time.

Sorry, I didn't mean anything disparaging about Lyft drivers; I'm sorry if it sounded that way. He didn't have any passengers at the time and very gracious about the situation. Fortunately, the only damage on his car - at least the only visible damage - was a small dent in the rear bumper.
