    Not sure how y got that but whatevs.

    Also there’s a distinction bw joyrider and car/fuel theft for transportation.

    Not as such but a magistrate would certainly take this into account when sentencing.

    The distinction I was referring to was in my mind as to my earlier statements.

    The ENTIRE discussion has been about LICENSE plates.
    How did you NOT notice that ??:)

    People steal them so they don't have to buy their own.
    Or to make it harder to track a vehicle that is used in a crime.

    I honestly don’t stash a key on the exterior of our cars. When I was a kid my dad did, but that was a long long time ago...

    I'm looking at fulltime residential car-camping in this vehicle. It's the reason a stashed key's a good idea as the alternative is to get a locksmith and I can live without the stress and expense.

    i don't recall anyone ever posting a hiding spot.have you looked around underneath for a spot to tape it to that doesn't get much debris?

    I wonder why only Ford products have an optional keypad to be installed on the driver door for this specific issue....

    I'm keeping an eye out as I prep it for resi duty. I wouldn't feel safe using any kind of tape but a judicious cable-tie in the right spot would be fine.

    If you hide a cheap key copy . It will only get you in the car. Without the rfd chip you still can't start the car!

    It would have to be in a sealed rf case or the doors won't lock and the car would always be ready to go. You could remove the battery to deactivate it. Or just put the spare key removed from your spare fob) in the car and use the copy key outside.

    You can wrap them in foil but also can turn off the smart key function.

    i used to tape a key inside the wheel cover, but not many cars have them anymore.

    You can also take the battery out. ;)
    Really all you would need is the rfid chip to start the car if your inside it.
