    - why the need for a catch can? Does the car really need it?

    We are diy guys, so it is very possible;).

    In the Gen3 maintenance section there is a sticky thread for both an oil catch can install as well as the egr circuit cleanse. There good for what you are looking for:).

    More background info for an oil catch can is also a sticky there;).

    Replaced both fender liners and forward belly shield with aftermarket pieces sourced off eBay. The forward belly shield was slightly different from OE but securely attached. There are only four bolts across the front versus seven.

    Immediately noticed a .3 mpg gain on the HSI on a trip across town. I’ll have to see tomorrow if the warmup cycle in the morning is any shorter.
