The windshield wiper arms have not been moving in the morning when below freezing outside. The wipers and the spring arms that attaches to the wipers are not frozen in place. The hood also is frequently frozen shut. We have been having a lot of above freezing days and then freezing nights. When it warms up and I drive it home from work they are functional. This is a 2010 originol owner with 222K miles and have not had this problem before (hood yes wipers no).

Try a gallon of hot tap water and wipe down with a dry towel.

Heat gun or hair dryer. Don't get too close, especially with the heat gun.

Assume outside parking? Put a small tarp over the front in future?

But why is this happening now after 8 years? Water getting where it is not supposed to?

Make sure the wiper linkage is lubricated properly so there is no water that can freeze. Same for the hood: clean the seals and rub some vaseline on them.
