    Hello Everyone -

I have a problem with my DICE install that I don't understand, nor can find a thread on to help me so I am posing this to the greater minds on this forum.

My O4 has everything, 6 CD changer, NAV, and XM radio (factory style). My Nano IPOD has the correct, most current version 1.1.1, and I have done the reset thing a couple of times to no avail.

When I initially fired it up - the switches were in the simple mode (as shipped) and I got a red "!" to come up on the dash, with a really large and onerous problem icon on the MSD. I turned it off, then corrected the switches, and it fired up without issue. I was able to see song names, playlist names, and it played just fine.

I read up on how to control it with D1- D5 and so on, then when back to the car to do some hands on. Fired it up and all I get in text mode now, no matter what I do, reset etal, is either INIT, or "*", PLAYLIST, ALBUM or CHAPTER, depending upon what Disc I have selected for controls - but no names, no titles, no nothing. I think the controls work okay, sound comes through okay, but have not fully tested anything else.

So what do you think is wrong?

I love having in integrated (I hate dangling wires) but if I can't see the song names it's far from what I wanted. I have the IPOD in the stow compartment unde the radio (small hole was required in one corner to admit cable), and the DICE in the glove compartment so I can get to it for AUX in if I ever use that.

Hope you folks can direct me - I'm stumped.
    Gene

Have you pushed the TITLES button to switch to text mode on the MFD?

Yes - that's the only place you can see the text that displays "INIT, or PLAYLIST or *" The other screen is simply the 6 discs and the play modes - right? I think my screen say TEXT not TITLES -so maybe I am missing something??

    Thanks -

Don't have definitive answer for you, but have you tried disconnecting everything - including the DICE? I'd try removing it completely and re-installing it. If that doesn't fix it, call DICE. They should be happy to help.

Also, make sure you're on Disc #1 to see all the titles. Disc #2 will display "PLAYLIST" and Disc #3 will display "ALBUM".

Let us know how it turns out or what DICE has to say.

Yes - I'm on the right settings - just does not display the information as pertains to Disc #1. I'm still trying to get DICE to respond. Left a trouble ticket days ago, no reply. Left email yesterday - nothing yet. I'll let you know if they reply.

I did try reinstalling from the ground up - no change.

    Thanks!

ginostef, I was going to make a post concerning the exact same issue. I too have not seen much info on this board regarding that issue. My unit had worked flawlessly for over a month and a half and then two weeks ago I started having the exact same issue that you are having now. All I get as far as info is that * and the steering wheel controls are of no use now as well. I have not chanfed the settings are disconnected anything but just like that this issue occurred.

I installed two units (one in my Prius and the other in my wife's). I have not had any issues with the unit in my wife's vehicle however, my car had the *. While I could still hear the iPod, I could only control it using the iPod and not the Prius.

I pulled everything out and restarted the car to check the radio was OK. Then shut it down and replugged in the Dice unit. This time the Prius could control the iPod.

I am still curious about the purple and blue wire connector.

I also had the dafault switch settings (both sets in the upper position).

I have a different problem with the DICE on my 2004 Prius. Every morning when I start the car, the iPod resets itself. I have tried 3 different DICE units and the problem continues. Every time the iPod resets, it restarts at the beginning of the playlist or audiobook. Very annoying. Any ideas on this problem? Thanks!

After 3 different DICE units, I would think this points to a problem with your Ipod. Do you have the latest firmware? Is it 4G or above? I would try to borrow another Ipod and try it. Something's not right.

If you disconnect the ipod overnight, then that will happen. If you leave it plugged in, then I don't know what would be causing that.

For the others, any chance D5 has been set to AUX by mistake? You would lose the wheel control and title if that was the case.

I have 2 different iPods (Nano and Video) each with the latest firmware. The reset happens with both iPods. And I do leave it plugged in overnight. If I power down the car for short periods it tends not to happen. But the reset issue is a given when the car is off overnight.

BTW, I am also using the DICE cradle, but I don't see how that would be causing the problem.
